Points North
Points North is a California-based rock band consisting of guitarist Eric Barnett, bassist Uriah Duffy and drummer Kevin Aiello. The band has released two studio albums and is known for its high-energy shows. The band also does gigs as their alter ego Fred Barchetta in tribute to the band Rush adding Darby Gould (formerly of Jefferson Starship) on vocals. Band members Barnett was a finalist in the 2008 Guitar Superstar competition. He has also contributed tips to instrumental guitarists in ''Guitar Player'' magazine and has contributed music to video games. ''Road Less Traveled'' is the first studio album by the instrumental rock band Points North. It was recorded at the Foothill College Studio 1100 and released on March 13, 2012 on Magna Carta Records. The album has been met with positive reviews with the music being compared with artists such as Joe Satriani, Steve Morse and Rush (band), Rush with a strong melodic sensibility. Progressive Rock
Progressive rock (shortened as prog rock or simply prog; sometimes conflated with art rock) is a broad genre of rock music that developed in the United Kingdom and United States through the mid- to late 1960s, peaking in the early 1970s. Instrumental rock is rock music that emphasizes musical instruments and features very little or no singing. Magna Carta Records is an independent record label located in Rochester, New York. Magna Carta was formed in 1989 and is owned by Peter Morticelli and his partner Mike Varney. Darby Marie Gould (aka Darby Venegas) is an American vocalist best known for her work with Jefferson Starship and World Entertainment War. Over the years she has developed a loyal following based on her passionate, soulful vocals and intense stage presence. Early life The daughter of a minister father and a pianist mother, Darby Gould's first experiences of singing in front of an audience occurred in church. Rush (band)
Rush was a Canadian rock band formed in 1968 in Toronto, that was comprised primarily of Geddy Lee (bass, vocals), Alex Lifeson (guitar), and Neil Peart (drums, percussion, lyricist). The band formed in Toronto in 1968 by Lifeson, drummer John Rutsey, and bass guitarist/vocalist Jeff Jones, who was immediately replaced by Lee. Jefferson Starship is an American rock band from San Francisco, California, formed in 1974 by a group of musicians including former members of Jefferson Airplane. Between 1974 and 1984, they released eight gold or platinum-selling studio albums, and one gold-selling compilation. The album '' Red Octopus'' went double-platinum, reaching No. 1 on the ''Billboard'' 200 chart in 1975. Whitesnake
Whitesnake are an English hard rock band formed in London in 1978. The group was originally put together as the backing band for singer David Coverdale, who had recently left Deep Purple. Though the band quickly developed into their own entity, Coverdale is the only constant member throughout their history.
