Pobeda Ice Island
Pobeda Ice Island, original Russian name остров Победы (остров = ''Island'', Победа = ''Victory'', meaning Pobeda Island or Victory Island), is an ''ice island'' in the Mawson Sea. It is located off the coast of Queen Mary Land, East Antarctica. This island, which exists periodically, is formed by the running aground of a tabular iceberg. Periodic formation The ice island is created and vanishes periodically. It is created by the calving of an enormous block of ice from Denman Glacier, located in the eastern part of Shackleton Ice Shelf. The resulting tabular iceberg drifts northwest until it runs aground upon a shoal north of the ice shelf. The iceberg remains locked in this position there for a decade or more, until has remodeled enough to free itself from the shoal. It then drifts into the open ocean, where it breaks into fragments. "Den' Pobedy" (russian: День Победы, en, Victory Day) ranks among the most popular in the large corpus of Russian songs devoted to the Second World War. The song refers to the Victory Day (9 May) celebration and differs from most of these by its cheerful intonations of a marching song and by the fact that it was composed some thirty years after the war. In the words of Vladimir Shainsky, a veteran composer, "the song seemed to have turned back the time. Ilmar Taska (born May 21, 1953, in Vyatka) is an Estonian filmmaker and writer, who was writer and producer for 20th Century Fox movie '' Back in the USSR'' (1992) and producer for ''Candles in the Dark'' directed by Maximilian Schell. ''Pobeda'' (russian: Победа, lit=Victory) was the last of the three pre-dreadnought battleships built for the Imperial Russian Navy at the end of the nineteenth century. The ship was assigned to the Pacific Squadron upon completion and based at Port Arthur from 1903. During the Russo-Japanese War of 1904–1905, she participated in the battles of Port Arthur and the Yellow Sea. The GAZ-M20 "Pobeda" (russian: ГАЗ-М20 Победа; ''победа'' means ''victory'') was a passenger car produced in the Soviet Union by GAZ from 1946 until 1958. It was also licensed to the Polish Passenger Automobile Factory and produced as the FSO Warszawa. Although usually known as the GAZ-M20, an original car's designation at that time was just M-20: M for "Molotovets" (the GAZ factory was named after Vyacheslav Molotov). FK Pobeda ( mk, ФК Победа) is a football club based in the city of Prilep, North Macedonia. History The club was founded in 1941 as Goce Delčev and renamed in 1950 to FK Pobeda. FK Pobeda has been a winner of Macedonian First League for two times (eight times as Republic League in Yugoslavia), and Macedonian Football Cup for one time (eight times as Republic Cup in Yugoslavia). Peak Pobeda, Sakha
Peak Pobeda (russian: Победа, "Victory"; sah, Победа Xайа, translit=Pobeda Qaỹa) is a mountain in Sakha Republic, Russia. This mountain is one of the main features of the Moma Natural Park. Geography At it is the highest peak of the Chersky Range. and of the East Siberian Mountains, East Siberian mountain system, as well as the highest mountain of Yakutia. The mountain is located in the Buordakh Massif, part of the Ulakhan-Chistay Range, a subrange of the Chersky mountain system. Climbing history Italian mountaineers Simone Moro and Tamara Lunger were the first to make a winter ascent of Peak Pobeda on February 12, 2018.
