Unione Sportiva Pistoiese 1921 is an Italian association football club, based in Pistoia, Tuscany. Currently, Pistoiese plays in Serie D. Originally founded on 21 April 1921 and later restored after bankruptcy, the team plays their home games in the Municipal Stadium of Pistoia named after Marcello Melani. The singer-songwriter Francesco Guccini is probably the most famous '' tifoso'' of Pistoiese in Italy. Emmanuel Cascione
Emmanuel Cascione (born 22 September 1983) is an Italian football coach and a former player who played as a midfielder. He was most recently the manager of club Pistoiese. Playing career Cascione was signed by West Ham United in July 2000, and released in January 2002. He then joined Pistoiese, at that time at Serie B. Riccardo Barbuti (born 12 March 1992) is an Italian footballer who plays for club Pistoiese. Biography Sassuolo Born in Sassuolo, Emilia region, Barbuti started his career at U.S. Sassuolo Calcio. Barbuti was a player of the under-17 team in 2008–09 season. In 2012–13 season he was signed by Barletta in a co-ownership deal, for a peppercorn of €500. The 2014–15 Lega Pro was the first season of the unified Lega Pro division in place of the old Prima Divisione and Seconda Divisione. Stadio Marcello Melani is the main stadium in Pistoia, Italy. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of U.S. Pistoiese 1921. The stadium holds 13,195. History The Stadio Comunale di Pistoia was opened 25 June 1966 with a friendly match between Pistoiese and Vasco de Gama (1-2). Previously Pistoiese played in the little stadium "Monteoliveto", where about 600 official matches were played. On 6 December 2006, the Stadio Comunale was dedicated to Marcello Melani, president of Pistoiese from 1974 to 1984. During his presidency Pistoiese earned the club's only promotion to Serie A in its history.
