Pijijiapan
Pijijiapan is a town and municipality in the Mexican state of Chiapas, on the coast of the Pacific Ocean about midway between the border with the state of Oaxaca and the international frontier with Guatemala. As of 2010, the municipality had a total population of 50,079, up from 46,949 as of 2005. It has a land area of 2,223.3 km². As of 2010, the city of Pijijiapan had a population of 16,917. 2017 Chiapas Earthquake
The 2017 Chiapas earthquake struck at 23:49 CDT on 7 September (local time; 04:49 on the 8th UTC) in the Gulf of Tehuantepec off the southern coast of Mexico near the state of Chiapas, approximately southwest of Pijijiapan (alternately, south-southwest of Tres Picos), with a Mercalli intensity of IX (''Violent''). The moment magnitude was estimated to be . The earthquake caused all of Mexico City to tremble, prompting people to evacuate after the early warning system was triggered. Hermenegildo Galeana, Chiapas
Saint Hermenegild or Ermengild (died 13 April 585; es, San Hermenegildo; la, Hermenegildus, from Gothic language, Gothic ''*Airmana-gild'', "immense tribute"), was the son of king Liuvigild of the Visigothic Kingdom in the Iberian Peninsula and southern France. He fell out with his father in 579, then revolted the following year. During his rebellion, he converted from Arianism to Catholicism. Hermenegild was defeated in 584 and exiled. His death was later celebrated as a martyrdom due to the influence of Pope Gregory I's ''Dialogues'', in which he portrayed Hermenegild as a "Catholic martyr rebelling against the tyranny of an Arian father."
