is a fictional character and the protagonist of the '' Dead or Alive'' fighting game series by Team Ninja and Tecmo (Koei Tecmo). Kasumi has served as the lead character of the ''Dead or Alive'' franchise since its premiere in 1996. She was a main character in the first, second and fifth games of the series and in the film '' DOA: Dead or Alive''. In the games' canon, Kasumi, also known as "The Kunoichi of Destiny", is a teenage ninja princess of the Mugen Tenshin Ninja Clan. Kasumi abandoned her clan, becoming an outcast and is pursued by her younger half-sister Ayane. There are several ''Dead or Alive'' player and boss characters who are clones of her. She also guest appeared in various other games, including Team Ninja's other flagship series ''Ninja Gaiden'' where she and Ayane play much bigger roles. Ayane (Dead Or Alive)
is a video game character in the '' Dead or Alive'' and '' Ninja Gaiden'' franchises by Team Ninja and Tecmo ( Koei Tecmo). She debuted as a hidden character in the PlayStation version of the fighting game '' Dead or Alive'' in 1998, and has appeared in all of its sequels and spin-offs so far, including as the main protagonist of '' Dead or Alive 3''. In the games, Ayane is a teenage master of ninjutsu and is characterised by her complex relationship with her half-sister Kasumi, the lead character of the ''Dead or Alive'' series. She is also prominently featured as a recurring supporting character in the ''Ninja Gaiden'' series since its revival in 2004 and has made multiple guest appearances in other games, in particular in the extended ''Dynasty Warriors'' franchise. is a 2019 fighting game developed by Team Ninja and published by Koei Tecmo. It is the sixth main entry in the '' Dead or Alive'' fighting series. The game was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on March 1, 2019, and was also released in the Arcades in Japan on July 18, 2019. Running on a new engine, the game included new features and introduced new mechanics. ''Dead or Alive 6'' was praised for its polished gameplay, battle arenas, and its beginner-friendly tutorials, but was criticized for its multiplayer functions as well as the absence of online lobbies at launch. Gameplay New features include slow-motion moments and visible damage on the fighters during the course of the fight, while the sweat effects from ''Dead or Alive 5'' return and are more pronounced.
