Personal (album)
''Personal'' is the debut studio album by the American vocal group Men of Vizion. It was released on June 18, 1996, via Michael Jackson's record label, MJJ Music, after a demo tape was played to him by producer Teddy Riley. The album has been described as a "sumptuous blend" of vocal R&B and "90s production techniques", that alternates between smooth ballads and new jack swing. ''Personal'' received mixed reviews from music critics, with some critics noting similarities between the group and Boyz II Men. Some critics felt as if the material was unmemorable versions of Boyz II Men songs, while others felt that ''Personal'' was highly different from the music at the time. The album only managed to chart in the United States, where it peaked at 14 on the ''Billboard'' Heatseekers Albums, 29 on the ''Billboard'' R&B Albums and 186 on the ''Billboard'' Top 200. Men Of Vizion
Men of Vizion is an American R&B quintet that came to fame in 1996, with the debut album, '' Personal'', which featured the songs, "House Keeper" and " Do Thangz", produced by Teddy Riley and "Lil" Chris Smith. Career The members of Men Of Vizion met at the LaGuardia High School of Music and Art. Randolph was training to be a classical pianist and sang frequently around the city in a jazz ensemble. After writing the five part harmony selection for the group which got the attention of Michael Jackson and mega producer Teddy Riley entitled "Kingdom On Top of The World", Randolph moved to Dallas, Texas in 1989. Now a quartet started doing backup vocals and also danced with Queen Latifah along with high school classmate and actor Omar Epps. They were originally called Vizion. Show You The Way To Go
"Show You the Way to Go" is a song written by Gamble and Huff and recorded by the Jacksons for their 1976 CBS debut album, ''The Jacksons''. Released as a single in early 1977, it was the only number-one song for the group in the UK. It was later covered by Dannii Minogue in 1992. The Jacksons version "Show You the Way to Go" became a hit for the Jacksons, (formerly known as "The Jackson 5") after their departure from Motown nearly two years prior. The move made it easy for the brothers to write and produce their own material. They spent a couple of years under the production and direction of Gamble and Huff and were signed to Philadelphia International Records. This was one of the songs that the producers wrote for the brothers. This song was released after " Enjoy Yourself," released a year earlier. Michael sang lead and background vocals. The Jackson 5 (sometimes stylized as the Jackson 5ive, also known as the Jacksons) are an American pop band composed of members of the Jackson family. The group was founded in 1964 in Gary, Indiana, and for most of their career consisted of brothers Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon and Michael. They were managed by their father Joe Jackson. The group were among the first African American performers to attain a crossover following. The Jackson 5 performed in talent shows and clubs on the Chitlin' Circuit, then signed with Steeltown Records in 1967 and released two singles. Contemporary R&B
Contemporary R&B (or simply R&B) is a popular music genre that combines rhythm and blues with elements of pop, soul, funk, hip hop, and electronic music. The genre features a distinctive record production style, drum machine-backed rhythms, pitch corrected vocals, and a smooth, lush style of vocal arrangement. Electronic influences are becoming an increasing trend and the use of hip hop or dance-inspired beats are typical, although the roughness and grit inherent in hip hop may be reduced and smoothed out.
