Percy Williams (Australia)
Percy Edmund Williams (1910-1996) was an Australian rugby league player who played in the 1930s and 1940s. Playing career A Souths junior, Williams became a long serving and valuable member of the South Sydney club in the 1930s. He played seven seasons with South Sydney between 1931-1938 and also captained the club during the mid 1930s. Williams was a dual premiership winner with Souths, playing halfback in the 1931 and 1932 Grand Final teams. Williams represented New South Wales on 15 occasions between 1932-1938 and was selected on the 1937-38 Kangaroo Tour, playing in two tests against England and two tests against New Zealand. He finished his career at Newtown, playing two seasons (1940-1941) and was Captain-Coach in 1941. Marrickville is a suburb in the Inner West of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Marrickville is located south-west of the Sydney central business district and is the largest suburb in the Inner West Council local government area. Ray Stehr
Raymond Ernest Stehr (24 January 1913 – 2 June 1983) was an Australian rugby league footballer, a state and national representative player whose club career was played at Sydney's Eastern Suburbs club. He has been named as one of the nation's finest footballers of the 20th century. Early life Stehr was born in the country New South Wales town of Warialda in 1913 of German descent. As an eight-year-old child, he was diagnosed an ''incurable cripple'' after developing blood clots at the base of his spine. He was unable to walk for two years and spent twelve months strapped to a stretcher, completely immobilised with his back encased in a plaster cast. His family moved to Sydney in search of some kind of miracle cure and, following a visit to a Chinese herbalist, the clots began to disappear. Arthur Folwell
Arthur Fitzgerald Folwell (23 September 1904 – 14 October 1966) was a British-born Australian professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s, coached in the 1940s, and was an administrator in the mid-20th century. An Australia national and New South Wales state representative , he played his club football in the New South Wales Rugby Football League for Sydney's Newtown before becoming their coach and taking them to the 1943 NSWRFL premiership. Playing career In 1933 Folwell was selected for the Australian touring squad for the 1933-34 Kangaroo tour of Great Britain . He became Kangaroo No. 179 when played in the 2nd and 3rd Test matches and he played another 19 matches on the 1933-34 tour. Frank Burge
Frank Burge (14 August 1894 – 5 July 1958) was one of the greatest Rugby league positions#Forwards, forwards in the history of rugby league in Australia. Later Burge became one of the game’s finest coaches. His club career was with Glebe (rugby league team), Glebe and the St. George Dragons. He represented New South Wales Rugby League team, New South Wales on twenty-six occasions and played thirteen test matches for the Australia national rugby league team, Kangaroos and played for Australia in a further twenty-three tour matches.
