Pentax K100D
The Pentax K100D and similar Pentax PENTAX K110D, K110D are 6-megapixel digital single-lens reflex cameras, launched in the U.S. on May 22, 2006. The K100D has a maximum resolution of 3008 x 2008, and can also down-sample to 2400 x 1600 and 1536 x 1024. The slowest metered shutter speed is 30 seconds and the fastest shutter is 1/4000 seconds. The K100D features a 6-megapixel Charge-coupled device, CCD sensor, coupled with an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) and a sensor-based image stabilization, shake reduction system within the camera body. The K110D has exactly the same features as the K100D, except it lacks built-in shake reduction. The K100D is sometimes confused with the similarly named, but more advanced, Pentax K10D. Pentax K-m
The Pentax K-m (called K2000 in U.S.) is a 10.2 megapixel digital single-lens reflex camera, announced on September 22, 2008 at the 2008 photokina trade show along with the DA-L series of lightweight, inexpensive lenses. It was discontinued in November 2009, being replaced by the more recent Pentax K-x. The K-m is considered a compact and entry-level model. It is significantly lighter than other Pentax DSLRs, lacks the weather sealing of the contemporaneous K200D and K20D models, and is intended to be sold with lightweight DA-L-series lenses. It does offer some improvements over the K200D, however, notably a maximum sensitivity increased from ISO 1600 to ISO 3200 and a slightly faster burst mode. Pentax Lenses
Pentax lenses were first badged as Takumar. The Takumar branded lenses were well respected for their line of Super Takumar, which designated the high performance coating applied to the lens as well as the optical formulas used to make them. The majority of the industry at the time was still satisfied with the variations of the "plumb" coating process and later some of the two and three layer processes as well. Asahi Pentax soon introduced the Takumar Super-Multi-Coated line of lenses which was a 7 layer process as the industry had just caught up with similar forms of 5 layer multi-coated optics. PENTAX K110D
The K110D is Pentax's entry-level DSLR. It has 6.1 Megapixels (6.1 Million effective pixels). The K110D is youngest of three sibling cameras in terms of specifications. It differs from the K100D only in lacking an in-body image stabilization system. The K110D has a 2.5 in LCD display screen with 210,000 pixels of resolution. It uses Secure Digital cards to record both JPEG and RAW image formats. The K110D uses AA alkaline batteries to power it, though an AC adapter is also compatible. It has a 23.5 mm x 15.7 mm CCD sensor to record its images. The body itself comprises a stainless steel chassis with a fiber reinforced plastic shell for durability.
