Paul Butler (politician)
Paul Butler (Irish: Pól de Buitléir) is a republican politician in Northern Ireland and a former member of the Provisional Irish Republican Army. He served as a member of the Northern Ireland Assembly for Lagan Valley from 2007–11. Involvement in the Troubles At the age of 17, Butler was convicted of killing 50-year-old reserve Royal Ulster Constabulary officer. As a result, he spent 15 years in jail. Lisburn City Council Paul Butler is the leader of the Sinn Féin group on the Lisburn City Council. The party currently holds four seats on the council, making it the third party and the largest nationalist party. Butler has a served as a Councillor for Lisburn City Council since 1997 and is a member of their Strategic Policy, Planning and Finance Committees. Andrew Hunter (British Politician)
Andrew Robert Frederick Ebenezer Hunter (born 8 January 1943) is a British politician and a member of the Orange Order. He was Member of Parliament (MP) for Basingstoke from 1983 until 2005. From 1990 to 2001 he was Vice-Chairman of the Conservative Monday Club and was chairman as of 2008, succeeding Lord Sudeley. Early life Hunter is the son of RAF Squadron Leader Roger F Hunter by his marriage to Winifred M Nelson/Hunter. He attended St George's School, Harpenden and studied at the University of Durham ( St John's College), gaining a BA in Theology in 1966 and an MA in History in 1968. He gained a Diploma in Education from Jesus College, Cambridge in 1967 then studied at Westcott House, Cambridge. Robert McCartney (Northern Irish Politician)
Robert Law McCartney, KC (born 24 April 1936) is a Northern Irish barrister and Unionist politician who was the founder and leader of the UK Unionist Party (UKUP) from 1995 to 2008. He was initially a member of the Ulster Unionist Party (UUP) but was expelled in June 1987 when he refused to withdraw from the general election of that year. He stood against the incumbent Popular Unionist Party MP Sir James Kilfedder in North Down as a "Real Unionist" but failed to win the seat. In the 1995 by-election in North Down after the death of Kilfedder he was elected as a "UK Unionist" defeating the Ulster Unionist Party candidate. He subsequently established the United Kingdom Unionist Party to contest elections to the Northern Ireland Forum and the related talks which started in 1996. Paul Givan
Paul Jonathan Givan (born 12 October 1981) is a Unionist politician from Northern Ireland representing the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP). Givan served as First Minister of Northern Ireland from June 2021 to February 2022, the youngest person to hold that office. Givan has served as the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Lagan Valley since 2010. He served as the Minister for Communities in the Northern Ireland Executive under First Minister Arlene Foster from 2016 to 2017. Trevor Lunn
Trevor Lunn (born 29 June 1946) is an independent politician in Northern Ireland and former member of the Alliance Party. He was elected to the Northern Ireland Assembly for Lagan Valley in the 2007 assembly election. Lunn took over the Alliance candidacy for Lagan Valley from Seamus Close, the longtime representative for the area. While many pundits predicted that Alliance would struggle to hold on to the seat, Lunn's performance saw the new candidate elected fourth out of the six seats available. He retained the seat at the 2011 Assembly election. He is a former chairman of the Alliance Party. As at August 2015, he is a Political Member of the Northern Ireland Policing Board. Norah Beare (born 25 May 1946, Banbridge, County Down) is a former Northern Irish unionist politician who served as a Member of the Northern Ireland Assembly (MLA) for Lagan Valley from 2003 to 2007. She was elected as an Ulster Unionist Party (UUP) candidate in the Assembly election of 2003; however, she defected to the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) in 2004 along with Jeffrey Donaldson MP, MLA for Lagan Valley and Arlene Foster, MLA for Fermanagh and South Tyrone.
