Patti Palladin
Patti Palladin is an American singer and musician of the punk rock and post-punk / new wave genres. She is primarily known for her work with Snatch (with Judy Nylon), Johnny Thunders, and the Flying Lizards. Career Palladin was a member of the punk duo Snatch, together with Judy Nylon in the early 1970s, and she co-wrote the track "Trial by Fire" that appeared on the 1982 Judy Nylon album ''Pal Judy'' (with her backing band Crucial). Snatch was included in the influential Nurse with Wound list released as part of the artwork for the 1979 Nurse with Wound album '' Chance Meeting on a Dissecting Table of a Sewing Machine and an Umbrella''. Snatch recorded the song "R.A.F." with Brian Eno, which was released on the 1982 EG Records compilation album ''First Edition'' and included audio samples from a Red Army Faction ransom message. Steve New
Stella Nova, born Stephen Charles New (16 May 1960 – 24 May 2010), was an English guitarist and singer who performed with a number of punk rock and new wave bands in the late 1970s and early 1980s, including the Rich Kids. In the 2000s, she came out as transgender and changed her name to Stella Nova, whilst performing with the band Beastellabeast. London Recordings (or London Records and London Music Stream) is a British record label that marketed records in the United States, Canada, and Latin America for Decca Records from 1947 to 1980 before becoming semi-independent. Postcard Records
Postcard Records is a British, Glasgow-based, independent record label founded by Alan Horne in 1979, as a vehicle for releases by Orange Juice and Josef K. The label's motto was "The Sound of Young Scotland", a parody/tribute to the Motown motto; its logo featured a cartoon cat beating a drum. Although short-lived, Postcard was a key influence on the C81 and the later C86 indie-pop movements. The label's first release, in spring 1980, was Orange Juice's, " Falling and Laughing", which was jointly financed by Horne and band members Edwyn Collins and bass guitarist David McClymont. The label went on to sign such bands as Aztec Camera and The Go-Betweens, before winding down in 1981 shortly after Orange Juice left to sign a major deal with Polydor. Crawfish (song)
"Crawfish" is a song written by Fred Wise (lyrics) and Ben Weisman (music) and recorded as a duet by the jazz singer Kitty White and Elvis Presley. It was the opening song for Presley's 1958 film ''King Creole''. British musician and Clash frontman Joe Strummer described "Crawfish" on his radio-show as one of his favourite Elvis Presley songs. The song and his recommendation were included on the soundtrack to the 2007 documentary '' Joe Strummer: The Future Is Unwritten''. Recording Bilbrew and Presley recorded the song on January 15, 1958, during the soundtrack recording session for the Paramount movie, ''King Creole'' at Radio Recorders, West Hollywood, California. Ben Weisman
Benjamin Weisman (November 16, 1921 – May 20, 2007) was an American composer. He wrote 57 songs recorded by Elvis Presley, more than any other songwriter. Biography Weisman was born in Providence, Rhode Island, and grew up in Brooklyn, New York. He studied classical piano as a child, and then at the Juilliard School of Music. After being drafted, he became Special Services Music Director for the U.S. Army Air Force, before returning to New York and a career in Tin Pan Alley. Initially, he found success writing with Fred Wise and Kay Twomey, often using the collective pseudonym "Al Hill".
