Patricia Snyder
Patricia A. Snyder (born July 13, 1955) is an American sociologist. She is a distinguished professor and David Lawrence Jr. Endowed Chair in Early Childhood Studies at the University of Florida. Education Snyder earned her Bachelor of Science at the State University of New York at Geneseo in 1977, followed by her Master of Education at Millersville University of Pennsylvania. Career Snyder completed her pre-doctoral fellowship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill before joining the faculty at Louisiana State University (LSU) in 1984. She eventually left LSU in 2005 to direct the Center for Child Development at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She also served as editor of the '' Journal of Early Intervention'' from 2002 until 2007 and later Associate Editor for '' Topics in Early Childhood Special Education.'' The State University of New York College at Geneseo (SUNY Geneseo, Geneseo State College or, colloquially, "Geneseo") is a public liberal arts college in Geneseo, New York. It is part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system. The college was founded in 1867 as the Wadsworth Normal and Training School before it became part of the new State University of New York system as a state liberal arts college in 1948. An academy (Attic Greek: Ἀκαδήμεια; Koine Greek Ἀκαδημία) is an institution of secondary or tertiary higher learning (and generally also research or honorary membership). The name traces back to Plato's school of philosophy, founded approximately 385 BC at Akademia, a sanctuary of Athena, the goddess of wisdom and skill, north of Athens, Greece. Etymology The word comes from the ''Academy'' in ancient Greece, which derives from the Athenian hero, ''Akademos''. Outside the city walls of Athens, the gymnasium was made famous by Plato as a center of learning.
