Pastorale (film)
''Pastorale'' (Georgian: ''Pastorali / პასტორალი''), is a Soviet film shot in Georgia in 1975 and directed by Otar Iosseliani. Like all Georgian productions of that period, ''Pastorale'' was filmed in the Georgian language and then dubbed in Russian for other Soviet republics. Otar Iosseliani
Otar Iosseliani ( ka, ოთარ იოსელიანი, born 2 February 1934) is a Georgian-born film director. He was born in the Georgian capital city of Tbilisi, where he studied at the Tbilisi State Conservatoire and graduated in 1952 with a diploma in composition, conducting and piano. Biography In 1953 he went to Moscow to study at the faculty of mathematics, but in two years he quit and entered the State Film Institute (VGIK) where his teachers were Alexander Dovzhenko and Mikhail Chiaureli. While still a student, he began working at the Gruziafilm studios in Tbilisi, first as an assistant director and then as an editor of documentaries. In 1958 he directed his first short film ''Akvarel''. In 1961 he graduated from VGIK with a diploma in film direction. Shota Laperadze
Shota Laperadze (1929-1995) was a Georgian film producer who produced twenty films between 1959 and 1995. From 1959 to 1991 he worked as a film producer at Georgian Film Studio. Later, from 1991 to 1995, Laperadze was a head of the film unions - “Aisi” and “Caucasus.” He has been a member of the Film-makers' Union of Georgia since 1978. In 1974 he received an award as a best film producer for the film ''Mze Shemodgomisa'' ''(Autumn Sun)''. Especially fruitful was Laperadze's cooperation with Georgian film director Rezo Chkheidze; together they made eight films, including '' Father of a Soldier'' (1964), which was entered into the 4th Moscow International Film Festival and '' The Saplings'' (1972); the film was entered into the 8th Moscow International Film Festival where it won a Diploma. Georgian (, , ) is the most widely-spoken Kartvelian language, and serves as the literary language or lingua franca for speakers of related languages. It is the official language of Georgia and the native or primary language of 87.6% of its population. Its speakers today number approximately four million. A pastoral lifestyle is that of shepherds herding livestock around open areas of land according to seasons and the changing availability of water and pasture. It lends its name to a genre of literature, art, and music (pastorale) that depicts such life in an idealized manner, typically for urban audiences. A ''pastoral'' is a work of this genre, also known as bucolic, from the Greek , from , meaning a cowherd. Berlin Film Festival
The Berlin International Film Festival (german: Internationale Filmfestspiele Berlin), usually called the Berlinale (), is a major international film festival held annually in Berlin, Germany. Founded in 1951 and originally run in June, the festival has been held every February since 1978 and is one of the " Big Three" alongside the Venice Film Festival in Italy and the Cannes Film Festival in France.
