Pasar Minggu
Pasar Minggu is a district of South Jakarta, Jakarta, Indonesia. The area is known for its traditional Sunday market, famous for the fruit market. Historically, Pasar Minggu is a fruit cultivation area developed by the Dutch government during the colonial period. The central point of the cultivation area is the traditional market of Pasar Minggu, located in what is now Pasar Minggu '' Kelurahan''. Teak forest could also be found in Pasar Minggu district, notably around Jati Padang (Javanese for "bright teak") ''Kelurahan''. Most of these areas has been converted into residential area as Jakarta grow southward. Ragunan Zoo ( Indonesian: ''Kebun Binatang Ragunan'') is a zoo located in Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta, Indonesia. The zoo has an area of . The zoo has an aviary and a primate centre, and employs over 450 people. Many of the animals in the zoo are endangered and threatened from all parts of Indonesia and the rest of the world. There are a total of 2,288 animals inside the zoo. Kemang, Jakarta
Kemang is a neighborhood in southern part of Jakarta, Indonesia. The area is located mostly in Bangka subdistrict of Mampang Prapatan and partly within Pejaten subdistrict of Pasar Minggu. The main area of Kemang is marked by the roads of Kemang Raya, Prapanca, and Bangka Streets. Etymology The name Kemang came from the fruit ''kemang'', a species of mango ('' Mangifera kemanga''). History Kemang was originally a kampung (village) which has been gentrified into an expatriate residential area. The gentrification of Kemang started after the end of the 1970s. Tjokropranolo
Tjokropranolo (21 May 1924 – 22 July 1998) was an Indonesian politician and former military officer who was the 8th Governor of Jakarta, serving between 1977 and 1982. During the Indonesian National Revolution, he was the assistant to Sudirman, and later wrote a biography of the commander. Early life Tjokoropranolo was born in Temanggung, today part of Central Java, on 21 May 1924. His father was the regent of Temanggung at the time. He studied at the Europeesche Lagere School. Career Revolution During the Japanese occupation of Indonesia, Tjokropranolo joined PETA. In the leadup to the 1948 Madiun Affair, Tjokropranolo - then armed forces commander Sudirman's adjutant - noted that he managed to restrain Indonesian Navy and Senopati Brigade soldiers from continuing a firefight with Siliwangi Division troops when tensions flared between the groups. Tanjung West
Tandjong West (English: "West Cape"; Indonesian: "Tanjung Barat") was a '' particuliere land'' or private domain in modern-day Tanjung Barat, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, Indonesia. The center of the domain was the eponymous Landhuis Tandjong West, an eighteenth-century Dutch colonial manor house. Ronggeng
Ronggeng ( jv, ꦫꦺꦴꦁꦒꦺꦁ, translit=ronggèng) is a type of Javanese dance in which couples exchange poetic verses as they dance to the music of a rebab or violin and a gong. Ronggeng might have originated from Java in Indonesia. Ronggeng probably has existed in Java since ancient time, the bas reliefs in Karmawibhanga section on eighth century Borobudur displays the scene of travelling entertainment troupe with musicians and female dancers. In Java, a traditional ronggeng performance features a traveling dance troupe that travels from village to village.
