Parque Lineal Veredas Del Labrador
The Parque Lineal Veredas del Labrador, also known as Parque Lineal de Ponce, Veredas del Labrador, or just Parque Lineal, is a passive park in Ponce, Puerto Rico. The park links to, but it is different from, a neighboring park also currently under construction called '' Parque Ecológico Urbano''. The park runs along the Río Portugués and Río Bucaná rivers in the city of Ponce. Construction Funds for the park had already been allocated by the administration of Rafael Cordero Santiago in the summer of 1991. The park is being built as part of the ''Ponce en Marcha'' plan. Construction started under the administration of mayor Francisco Zayas Seijo (2005-2009) when an injection of $18 million was received from the Government of Puerto Rico as a result of a 1998 Supreme Court decision, during the administration of mayor Churumba, which mandated the Government pay for infrastructure improvements in Ponce. San Antón
San Antón is one of the 31 barrios of the municipality of Ponce, Puerto Rico. Along with Canas Urbano, Machuelo Abajo, Magueyes Urbano, and Portugués Urbano, San Antón is one of the municipality's five originally rural barrios that are now also part of the urban zone of the city of Ponce. It is totally enclosed within the Ponce city limits. It was founded in 1818. History San Antón is one of Ponce's oldest barrios. It is believed that this is where Spanish colonists first settled. Complejo Ferial de Puerto Rico, is a 3,000-seat indoor arena and convention center in Ponce, Puerto Rico. It is intended to be used primarily for trade shows, conventions and sporting events. It opened in June, 2012. One of the first pre-inauguration activities was a set of Olympic boxing pre-match games. Its official inauguration was subsequently set for September 2012. Primero (''Barrio Primero'') is one of the 31 barrios of the municipality of Ponce, Puerto Rico. Together with Segundo, Tercero, Cuarto, Quinto, and Sexto, Primero is one of the municipality's original six core urban barrios. It was founded in 1878. Churumba
Rafael Cordero Santiago (24 October 1942 – 17 January 2004), better known as "Churumba", was the Mayor of Ponce, Puerto Rico, from 1989 to 2004. Many considered him as a synonym of Ponce, being baptized as "El León Mayor" (Spanish for "The Greatest Lion"), an allusion to the city's official symbol, the lion. Mayor Cordero was a firm believer in the government decentralization process. During Cordero Santiago's term in the Ponce mayoral office, the city saw the construction of the Julio Enrique Monagas Family Park, the Tricentennial Park Plaza, and the La Guancha Boardwalk.
