Parallel Hybrid Truck
The Chevrolet Silverado is a range of trucks manufactured by General Motors under the Chevrolet brand. Introduced for the 1999 model year, the Silverado is the successor to the long running Chevrolet C/K model line. Taking its name from the top trim level from the Chevrolet C/K series, the Silverado is offered as a series of full-size pickup trucks, chassis cab trucks, and medium-duty trucks. The fourth generation of the model line was introduced for the 2019 model year. The Chevrolet Silverado shares mechanical commonality with the GMC Sierra; GMC ended the use of the C/K nomenclature a model generation prior to Chevrolet. In Mexico, high trim level versions of the Silverado use the Chevrolet Cheyenne name. Competing against the Ford F-Series, Ram Pickup, Nissan Titan, and Toyota Tundra, the Silverado is among the best-selling vehicles in the United States, having sold over 12 million examples since its introduction in 1999. History The Silverado nameplate made its ...

GM Small-block Engine
"LS engine" is the colloquial name given to the third and fourth generation small-block V8 gasoline engine used in General Motors' vehicles. The name evolved from the need to differentiate the Gen 3/Gen 4 small blocks from the original Gen 1/Gen 2 small blocks released in 1954, which are commonly referred to as "Small Block Chevrolets". The "LS" name originates from the engine RPO code of the first Gen 3 small block, the LS1, introduced in the 1997 Corvette. The term "LS engine" is used to describe any Gen 3 or Gen 4 Small Block Chevrolet, including those that do not specifically include "LS" as part of their RPO code. Sometimes referred to as an "LSx", with the lower case "x" standing in for one of the many RPO code variations of the motor, the term can cause confusion since GM now sells an aftermarket LS cylinder block named "LSX" with a capital "X". The original RPO code "LS1" is still sometimes used, if not confusingly, to describe the entire Gen 3/Gen 4 engine family. L ...

GM GMT Platform
GMT (General Motors Truck) is a nomenclature used by General Motors to designate multiple vehicle platforms. In use since the early 1980s, the GMT nomenclature is used for light trucks, full-size SUVs, and vans, along with several medium-duty trucks. With only a few exceptions, nearly all GMT vehicles use body-on-frame construction, along with rear-wheel drive (or all-wheel drive) powertrain configurations. Primary applications Primary applications of the platform – those that are equivalent in basic RWD/frame structure to each other – existed from 1981 to 1989, and again since 2018. Light trucks and SUVs Pickups and SUVs have been the main vehicles underpinned by GMT platforms, being involved for the entirety of the platform's existence. Fullsize # GMT400 – Chevrolet C/K and variants, 1986 – 2002 # GMT800 – Chevrolet Silverado and variants, 1998 – 2009 # GMT900 – Chevrolet Silverado and variants, 2005 – 2015 # GMTK2XX – Chevrolet Silverado and varian ...

Mild Hybrid
Mild hybrids (also known as power-assist hybrids, battery-assisted hybrid vehicles or BAHVs) are generally cars with an internal combustion engine equipped with an electric machine (one motor/generator in a parallel hybrid configuration) allowing the engine to be turned off whenever the car is coasting, braking, or stopped, and then quickly restarted once power is again required. Mild hybrids may employ regenerative braking and some level of power assist to the internal combustion engine (ICE), but mild hybrids do not have an electric-only mode of propulsion. Overview The mild hybrid's electric motor provides greater efficiency through the use of a single device that is essentially an integrated starter/alternator sometimes known as a generator-motor unit. A typical mild-hybrid setup uses a belt-powered generator-motor unit driven off the engine to supply power to a small battery. The generator is also powered through regenerative braking, enabling power that would otherwise be ...

New Venture Gear 4500 Transmission
The New Venture Gear 4500, commonly called NV4500, is a 5-speed manual transmission manufactured by New Venture Gear and used in General Motors and Chrysler products from 1991 to 2007. The NV4500 is a very popular 5-speed manual conversion and upgrade transmission in light trucks and SUVs including Toyota, Ford, Jeep, General Motors, and Dodge. Commercially produced adapters are available to mate this transmission with many different engines and transfer cases. There were many subtle changes during the production of this transmission, but the main two variations were: NV4500LD: Used in GM gas and diesel applications, and Dodge V8 gas applications. NV4500HD: Used in Dodge light duty trucks with the Cummins Turbo Diesel and the V10 Magnum gas engine. Shared specifications Dry weight: 195 lbs. Oil capacity: 1 gallon Max. GVW: 14,500 lbs. New Venture Gear 3500 Transmission
The New Venture Gear 3500, commonly called NV3500, is a 5-speed overdrive manual transmission manufactured by New Venture Gear and used by GM and Dodge in compact and full-size light trucks. It can be identified by its two-piece aluminum case with integrated bell housing and top-mounted tower shifter. Similar transmissions In North America the NV3550 is used by Jeep with the 4.0L inline 6. It looks similar to and could be mistaken for the Dodge NV3500. However the Jeep NV3550 bellhousing bolts to the transmission case. There are four GM medium duty transmission designs that led to and are often mistaken for the NV3500: * 1987 MG-290 MG= Muncie Gear * 1988 HM-290 HM= Hydramatic Muncie * 1989 5LM60 (early) * 1991 NVG 5LM60 (lateNVG= New Venture Gear * 1993 New Venture Gear releases the NV3500. Externally the earlier GM units look like the NV3500; however the internal components were extensively redesigned. ** The HM290 and 5LM60 units have a complicated arrangement of 4 shift ...

Automatic Transmission
An automatic transmission (sometimes abbreviated to auto or AT) is a multi-speed transmission used in internal combustion engine-based motor vehicles that does not require any input from the driver to change forward gears under normal driving conditions. It typically includes a transmission, axle, and differential in one integrated assembly, thus technically becoming a transaxle. The most common type of automatic transmission is the hydraulic automatic, which uses a planetary gearset, hydraulic controls, and a torque converter. Other types of automatic transmissions include continuously variable transmissions (CVT), automated manual transmissions (AMT), and dual-clutch transmissions (DCT). An electronic automatic transmission (EAT) may also be called an electronically controlled transmission (ECT), or electronic automatic transaxle (EATX). A hydraulic automatic transmission may also colloquially called a " slushbox" or simply a "torque converter", although the latter ...
