The Hope College Pull (The Pull) is an annual tug-of-war contest in Holland, Michigan Holland is a city in Ottawa County, Michigan, Ottawa and Allegan County, Michigan, Allegan counties in the U.S. state of Michigan. Located in the West Michigan, western region of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, Lower Peninsula, the city is si ... on the fourth Saturday after Labor Day at 3:00 PM. It is sponsored by Hope College and is one of the nation's oldest standing college traditions. Starting in 1910 it was held across the Black River, but in 2019 the location moved onto campus. Competitors are 40 members of both the Freshman and Sophomore Class. The freshman team is coached by juniors while the sophomore team is coached by seniors. Each Pull Team is named for the graduating year of that class. ''Pull'' is the third studio album by American rock band Winger. The album was released in 1993 by Atlantic Records. Replacing Beau Hill, Kip Winger took the production reins with the help of Mike Shipley, who had previously worked on Def Leppard's 1992 album, Adrenalize. With Winger and Shipley at the helm, the album's production was on a considerable budget and marked a significant change in Winger's sound, eschewing their glam metal anthems prevalent in their first two albums for a harder and more aggressive style of music with socio-political leanings on tracks like "Blind Revolution Mad", "In for the Kill" and "Who's the One". In terms of sales figures the album was not as successful as the two first albums, peaking at #83 on Billboard's Album chart. Arcwelder
Arcwelder is an American punk rock band from Minneapolis, Minnesota, formed in 1987. The band, a perennial local favorite, consists of brothers Rob and Bill Graber and Scott Macdonald, all of whom share in songwriting and singing. The band released six albums between 1990 and 1999, including ''Pull'' and ''Jacket Made in Canada''. Pitchfork writer Ryan Schreiber called them one of the best Minnesota bands of the 1990s. History Under their original name Tilt-A-Whirl, the band released their first album, ''This'', in 1990 on the small Minneapolis label Big Money, Inc. As the record was being released, the band was sued for trademark infringement by Sellner Manufacturing, the manufacturer of the Tilt-A-Whirl amusement ride. Ultimate (sport)
Ultimate frisbee (officially simply called ultimate) is a non-contact team sport played with a Frisbee, disc Flying disc sports, flung by hand. Ultimate was developed in 1968 by Joel Silver, Buzzy Hellring, and Jonny Hines in Maplewood, New Jersey. Although ultimate resembles many traditional sports in its athletic requirements, it is unlike most sports due to its focus on self-officiating, even at the highest levels of competition. The term "frisbee" is a registered trademark of the Wham-O toy company, and thus the sport is not formally called "ultimate frisbee", though this name is still in common casual use (and the trademark was licensed to the Ultimate Frisbee Association in 2024). Points are scored by passing the disc to a teammate in the opposing end zone.
