Prosecutor General (Albania)
In Albania, the Prosecutor General ''()'' is the highest judicial authority exercising the criminal prosecution of entities or individuals and representing the accusation in court on behalf of the state. They are also responsible for carrying out a series of other duties assigned by law to the prosecution. Its powers are defined by the Constitution of 1998 as amended in 2016 by the law "On the Organization and Functioning of Institutions for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime." The General Prosecutor proposes to the President of the Republic the candidates for prosecutor after considering the opinion of the Council of Prosecution. They are entitled to issue orders for the prosecutor's suspension from exercise of their duty when the starting of a criminal proceeding against them has been decided, until the end of the proceeding, or when a serious disciplinary violation is uncovered. The present Constitution of the Albania, Republic of Albania () was adopted by the Parliament of Albania on 21 October 1998 and certified by presidential decree on 28 November 1998, following a public referendum which approved the new Constitution. Bedri Spahiu
Bedri Spahiu (July 13, 1908 – 11 January 1998) was an Albanian politician and Lieutenant-General and one of the most prominent figures of the Albanian Labour Party up to 1956. Life Born into a Muslim, Albanian family in Gjirokastër, Spahiu completed his education in 1923 in Shkodër, and then continued his further education at a school run by Italians in Istanbul. After his return to Albania, he joined the Albanian army in 1927 as a soldier in the artillery school of Tirana and was in military service until his dismissal for alleged subversive behavior in 1935. In 1941 he joined the newly founded Albanian Communist Party and became a member of the Provisional Central Committee, on whose behalf he took over the party organization in his home town of Gjirokastër. Lefter Goga (6 May 1921 – 21 November 1997) was an Albanian politician. Theodhori Sollaku (born 1962 in Fier, Albania) was the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Albania from 2002 to 2007. He was appointed on March 29, 2002, to replace Arben Rakipi, who had been removed from office through a procedure later ruled unconstitutional by the Constitutional Court of Albania. Adriatik Llalla is an Albanian lawyer. He served as the Prosecutor General (Albania), Prosecutor General of the Albania, Republic of Albania from 2012 to 2017. During the years 2008 to 2012 he was Inspector General of the "HIDAACI (Albania), High Inspectorate of Declaration and Audit of Assets and Conflict of Interest", (HIDAACI). The former prosecutor was the first official worldwide to be banned by the US Secretary of State from entering the US due to allegations of corruption. In March 2018 he was at the center of investigations for suspicions of corruption. Finally, in September 2021, he was sentenced to two years in prison and confiscation of assets only for failing to declare them in full.
