Prai River Bridge
Perai River Bridge is a dual-three lane cable stayed bridge that straddles the Perai River in Seberang Perai, Penang, Malaysia. It is part of the Butterworth Outer Ring Road (BORR). Designed by Dar Al-Handasah Consultants, it won the IStructE Award for Transportation Structures and the prestigious Supreme Award in 2006. Constructed by Lingkaran Luar Butterworth (Penang) Sdn. Bhd. on a turnkey contract. Project overview The project was carried out by Turnkey contractor, Lingkaran Luar Butterworth (Penang) Sdn. Bhd. Perai
Perai is a suburb of Seberang Perai in the States and federal territories of Malaysia, Malaysian state of Penang. It lies at the southern bank of the Perai River and borders Butterworth, Seberang Perai, Butterworth to the north. The area now known as Perai was obtained by the East India Company, British East India Company in 1800, with the Perai River serving as the boundary between the newly-acquired British territory and Kedah to the north. A nascent railway line was built between Perai and Perak in the 1890s, transforming Perai into a transit point for the export of tin. Perai became heavily industrialised in the late 20th century. Butterworth Outer Ring Road
Butterworth Outer Ring Road (BORR) ( Malay: ''Lebuhraya Lingkaran Luar Butterworth'') is a coastal expressway located in Butterworth, Penang, Malaysia. This expressway connects Sungai Dua in the north until Perai in the south. Route background The zeroeth kilometre of the expressway is located at Sungai Dua Interchange. Ships can be seen near Bagan Ajam Rest Area. The Penang Megamall is located at the end of the highway. Cable Stayed Bridge
A cable-stayed bridge has one or more ''towers'' (or ''pylons''), from which cables support the bridge deck. A distinctive feature are the cables or stays, which run directly from the tower to the deck, normally forming a fan-like pattern or a series of parallel lines. This is in contrast to the modern suspension bridge, where the cables supporting the deck are suspended vertically from the main cable, anchored at both ends of the bridge and running between the towers. Seberang Perai
Seberang Perai is a city in the Malaysian state of Penang. Located on the Malay Peninsula and separated from Penang Island by the Penang Strait, it shares borders with Kedah to the north and east and Perak to the south. The Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah Bridge (), also known as the Penang Second Bridge (), is a dual carriageway toll bridge in Penang, Malaysia. It connects Bandar Cassia (Batu Kawan) in Seberang Perai, Peninsular Malaysia, with Batu Maung on Penang Island. It is the second bridge to link the island to the mainland after Penang Bridge.
