PortConMaine
PortConMaine is an annual four-day anime and gaming convention held during June at the DoubleTree by Hilton in South Portland, Maine. The convention uses outdoor tents due to space limitations and is also located across from The Maine Mall. PortConMaine was founded by Julie York. Programming The convention typically offers artists alley, boardgame tournaments, collectible card games competitions, cosplay competitions, dealers room, film screenings, karaoke, and video gaming. History Julie York started PortConMaine in 2002 due to the lack of nerd events in New England, with the first event being held at the University of Southern Maine. PortConMaine added multigenre content to the convention in 2011. In 2014, Thursday's content was for pre-registered attendees only. The Hsu-nami
The Hsu-nami is an American progressive rock band from the United States. The Hsu-nami, named after the frontman Jack Hsu, became known as the first "Progressive Erhu Rock" band in the world. The Hsu-nami integrates an amplified "erhu", a two-string Huqin, spike fiddle used in Chinese classical and folk music, into an instrumental progressive rock sound. History The group was formed in 2005 from the remnants of the acoustic Duo "Genso Fantasia" and power metal outfit "Bleed the Stone".
