''Pop'' is the ninth studio album by Irish rock music, rock band U2. It was produced by Flood (producer), Flood, Howie B, and Steve Osborne, and was released on 3 March 1997 on Island Records. The album was a continuation of the band's 1990s musical reinvention, as they incorporated alternative rock, techno, electronic dance music, dance, and electronica influences into their sound. ''Pop'' employed a variety of production techniques that were relatively new to U2, including Sampling (music), sampling, Music loop, loops, Programming (music), programmed drum machines, and Music sequencer, sequencing. Larry Mullen Jr
Laurence Joseph Mullen Jr. (; born 31 October 1961) is an Irish musician, best known as the drummer and co-founder of the rock music, rock band U2. A member of the band since its inception, he has recorded 15 studio albums with U2. Mullen's distinctive, almost military drumming style developed from his playing Martial music, martial beats in childhood marching bands. Paul Andrew "Nellee" Hooper (born 15 March 1963) is a British record producer, remixer and songwriter known for his work with many major recording artists beginning in the late 1980s.
