Pleuger
Pleuger Industries is a German manufacturer of submersible pumps, thruster (other)#Marine thrusters, thrusters, and plunger pumps. It is based in Hamburg, Germany. According to the company itself, the brandnames of Hamburg manufacturers, including "Pleuger", are used as generic terms for water-filled motors with multi-stage pumps. It is also considered as the pioneer of submersible turbine pump motor. Since being acquired by the investment company, Flacks Group, in 2018, Pleuger is operating as an independent company. History Foundation Pleuger Industries was founded in 1929 by Friedrich Wilhelm Pleuger, when he invented glandless motor as a replacement to the borehole shaft and piston pumps. Since water was used to lubricate and cool the bearings of the wet rotor motor, the patent was regarded particularly ecologically benign and effective at the time. In contrast to oil-filled submersible motors of the time, Pleuger pumps had the critical benefit that they could be e ...

He was a partner and founder of Pleuger Unterwasserpumpen GmbH in Hamburg (known as Pleuger, Pleuger Industries today), through which he marketed and sold these products. In addition, he was also the Consul (representative), consul general of Ghana in Hamburg. His technical developments have been used in various fields worldwide. For example, in underground railway construction (Berlin, Moscow) and in Storm drain, drainage systems all over the world. Personal life Friedrich W. Pleuger Rudder
The Pleuger rudder (also known as a Dutch rudder) is a power assisted ship's rudder. It creates a flow of water in the direction the rudder points powered by an auxiliary electric motor. This aids maneuverability at low speeds greatly, since it operates on a similar principle to a thruster. A ducted propeller is mounted as an integral part of the rudder and is fixed to it. The duct is a Kort nozzle A ducted propeller, also known as a Kort nozzle, is a marine propeller shrouded with a non-rotating nozzle. It is used to improve the efficiency of the propeller and is especially used on heavily loaded propellers or propellers with limited d ... and enables the propeller to develop more thrust than an unducted propeller. The Pleuger rudder is necessarily mounted in the flow from the main engine's propeller in a ship with an odd number of propellers. If the Pleuger and the main engine are run at the same time, the Pleuger can often be torn away. The thrust produced by the P ...

Submersible Pump
A submersible pump (or electric submersible pump (ESP) is a device which has a hermetically sealed motor close-coupled to the pump body. The whole assembly is submerged in the fluid to be pumped. The main advantage of this type of pump is that it prevents pump cavitation, a problem associated with a high elevation difference between the pump and the fluid surface. Submersible pumps push fluid to the surface, rather than jet pumps, which create a vacuum and rely upon atmospheric pressure. Submersibles use pressurized fluid from the surface to drive a hydraulic motor downhole, rather than an electric motor, and are used in heavy oil applications with heated water as the motive fluid. History In. 1928 Armenian oil delivery system engineer and inventor Armais Arutunoff successfully installed the first submersible oil pump in an oil field. In 1929, Pleuger Pumps (today Pleuger Industries) developed the design of the submersible turbine pump, the forerunner of the modern multi-sta ...
