Pillar Point (band)
Pillar Point is an American indie pop, synthpop band based out of Seattle, Washington (state), Washington, United States. Biography Pillar Point is the solo recording project of Scott Reitherman (also of Throw Me The Statue). In June 2013, the band signed with Polyvinyl Record Co. and unveiled the first single, “Diamond Mine,” which was later released as a 7" on September 3, 2013. The self-titled full-length album, ''Pillar Point'', was released the following year on February 25, 2014 on Polyvinyl. The album went on to receive press accolades with features in Stereogum, SPIN, and others. Following the album's release, Pillar Point embarked on national tours with of Montreal and Soft Swells. The band has been remixed by Generationals, Ruby Suns, and Music Go Music. The band's music video for “Dreamin’” was featured on Vimeo’s Staff Picks Vice (magazine), VICE premiered the video for "Dove" starring Kia LaBeija, Kia Labeija. Kia Michelle Benbow (Professionally known as Kia LaBeija or Kia; b. March 18, 1990) is an American fine artist. Her most well known series, ''24,'' is a sociopolitical commentary on the effects of growing up as a young woman of color with HIV. She is a former Mother of the House of LaBeija. Biography Kia LaBeija was born and raised in Hell's Kitchen, New York. Her mother, Kwan Bennett, was born in Subic Bay, Philippines and is Filipino American. Her father, drummer Warren Benbow, was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and is African American. She has one brother, actor, producer, and artist Kenn Michael. The Ruby Suns are an indie pop group from New Zealand. They formed in 2004 when Californian Ryan McPhun moved to Auckland and started playing in several bands such as the Brunettes, the Tokey Tones, and the Reduction Agents. Biography The Ruby Suns are signed to Lil' Chief Records in New Zealand and Memphis Industries in Britain. He has released two albums, two EPs and several singles on Dovecote Records and is signed with Modern Outsider Records as a part of the band Soft Swells. Biography With roots in the Midwest, Williams' music career began in Boston, Massachusetts with a self-released EP ''Songs For the Commute''. After one year in Boston, Williams moved to New York and immediately began writing and recording a second release while staying at the Hotel Chelsea.
