Pierre Mahé
Pierre Marie Mahé (1833 – 2 February 1913"Death of M. Pierre Mahe" in ''The London Philatelist'', Vol.22, 1913, p. 38.) was a French stamp dealer who was acknowledged as one of the ''Fathers of Philately'' on the Roll of Distinguished Philatelists. Association with Philipp von Ferrary Mahé owned a succession of stamp shops in Paris at ''Rue de Clichy'', ''Rue de Chateaudon'' and ''Rue de Cannettes''. Roll Of Distinguished Philatelists
The Roll of Distinguished Philatelists (RDP) is a Philately, philatelic award of international scale, created by the Philatelic Congress of Great Britain in 1921 to honour those who have advanced philately through research, expertise, or service. The Roll consists of five pieces of parchment to which the signatories add their names. New honorees continue to be added annually. Philipp Von Ferrary
Philip Ferrari de La Renotière (January 11, 1850 – May 20, 1917) was a noted French-born stamp collector, assembling probably the most complete worldwide collection that ever existed, or is considered likely to exist. Among his extremely rare stamps were the unique Treskilling Yellow of Sweden and the 1856 one-cent "Black on Magenta" of British Guiana. Of Italian family background, Ferrary took French nationality in 1871, but later became an Austrian national, a fact that ultimately led to the French government seizing, and later auctioning, his stamp collection following his death in 1917. Because France and Austria were enemies during the First World War, Ferrary was himself considered an enemy of France. His adopted nationality also prevented him from returning to France when the war began. Lindenberg Medal
The Lindenberg Medal is an award given to those who provide “conspicuous service to philately” because of their investigations and contributions to philatelic literature. Carl Lindenberg Carl Lindenberg (1850–1928), a judge and major stamp collector in Germany, began collecting at age seven in 1857, headed the Berliner Philatelisten-Klub, and initiated the Lindenberg medal in 1905. Jacques Legrand (philatelist)
Dr. Jacques Amable Legrand (29 August 1820 – 6 June 1912) was one of the first collectors of French stamps in the nineteenth century and one of the first organizers and scholars of philately in France as a serious topic of study. He used the pseudonym of Dr. Magnus. Career He participated actively in the journal ''Le Timbrophile'' and invented the perforation gauge, or odontometer, which has become a basic tool in determining the perforation of stamps. He also fought an unsuccessful battle to reject the title of the subject advocated by Georges Herpin (philatelist), Georges Herpin and Arthur Maury as "philately" and sought it to be renamed "Timbrology". Jacques Legrand was one of the founders on 14 June 1875 of the Société Française de Timbrologie, one of the most important philatelic institutions in France, and served as its first secretary.
