Peter McCarthy (film Producer)
Peter McCarthy is an American film producer, screenwriter, director, and editor. He is best known as a producer on the film ''Repo Man''. Originally from Chicago, McCarthy moved to Los Angeles to attend film school at UCLA. There, he met Alex Cox and Jonathan Wacks, with whom he went on to make ''Repo Man''. McCarthy and Wacks established a production company in Venice Beach and created the film as their first feature release. ''I'm Gonna Git You Sucka'' is a 1988 American blaxploitation parody film written, directed by and starring Keenen Ivory Wayans in his directorial debut. Featured in the film are several noteworthy African-American actors who were part of the genre of blaxploitation: Jim Brown, Bernie Casey, Antonio Fargas and Isaac Hayes. Jonathan Philip Wacks is an American film director, producer, and screenwriter. He has directed a number of films including '' Powwow Highway'', produced by George Harrison. The film won the Sundance Film Festival Filmmaker’s Trophy, was nominated for four Independent Spirit Awards, and won awards for best picture, director, and actor at the American Indian Film Festival in San Francisco. In 2024, Powwow Highway was one of only 25 American films selected for inclusion in the Library of Congress Film Registry to be preserved for future generations. Alexander B. H. Cox (born 15 December 1954) is an English film director, screenwriter, actor, non-fiction author and broadcaster. Cox experienced success early in his career with ''Repo Man (film), Repo Man'' (1984) and ''Sid and Nancy'' (1986). Since the release and commercial failure of ''Walker (film), Walker'' (1987), his career has moved towards independent films, including ''Highway Patrolman (film), Highway Patrolman'' (1991) and ''Three Businessmen'' (1998), and microbudget features such as ''Searchers 2.0'' (2007) and ''Repo Chick'' (2009).
