Blake Raymond Pelly, (31 May 1907 – 16 October 1990) was an Australian air force officer, politician and businessman, who represented the Liberal Party in New South Wales Parliament. Before and during the Second World War Pelly served in the Royal Australian Air Force, rising to the rank of group captain and serving as director of Operations Royal Australian Air Force Headquarters 1945–1946. Air Chief Marshal Sir Claude Bernard Raymond Pelly, (19 August 1902 – 12 August 1972) was a senior commander in the Royal Air Force during the middle of the 20th century. RAF career Claude Pelly started his Air Force career at the RAF College Cranwell in 1920. In 1931 he was deployed to Iraq where he became Air Liaison Officer earning the Military Cross "for distinguished service rendered in the field in connection with military operations in Northern Kurdistan, Iraq during the period December 1931 to June 1932." He served in World War II initially as Head of Intelligence at Headquarters Air Component of the British Expeditionary Force and then as Senior Air Staff Officer for the Desert Air Force. Frederick Raymond Pelly (11 August 1868 – 16 October 1940) was an English international footballer, who played as a left back. Early and personal life Pelly was born in Upminster, later moving to Forest Rise in Walthamstow whilst still a child. As a result of his locality, Pelly attended the nearby Forest School. Pelly was the grandson of John Pelly, who served as governor of the Hudson's Bay Company from 1822 to 1852 and Governor of the Bank of England from 1841 to 1842. Club career As a result of attending Forest School, Pelly played for Old Foresters, joining the club in 1882. Pelly later captained the club, before joining Corinthian in 1891. John Pelly
Sir John Henry Pelly, 1st Baronet, DL (31 March 1777 – 13 August 1852) was an English businessman. During most of his career, he was an employee of the Hudson's Bay Company (HBC), serving as Governor of the HBC for three decades. He held other noteworthy offices, including Governor of the Bank of England. The title of Baronet Pelly was created for him. Early years Pelly was born on 31 March 1777. Early life Pelly was born on August 22, 1902, in Seattle, Washington. Tom Pelly (1 June 1936 – 23 June 2006) was an Australian rules footballer who played with North Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the 1950s. Pelly was a Grogan Medal winner while with Western Districts in 1956 and before that had played for Brunswick YCW. His performance at Western Districts earned him a chance in the VFL and he left the Queensland club at the end of the year to join North Melbourne. The Pelly Baronetcy, of Upton in the County of Essex, is a title in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom. It was created on 12 August 1840 for John Pelly, Governor of the Bank of England and of the Hudson's Bay Company. The title descended in the direct line until the early death of his grandson, the third Baronet, in 1877. The late Baronet was succeeded by his half-brother, the fourth Baronet. His grandson, the sixth Baronet, was a deputy lieutenant of Hampshire and served as high sheriff of the county from 1970 to 1971. As of 2007 the title is held by his nephew, the seventh Baronet, who succeeded in 1993. He is the son of Richard Heywood Pelly, second son of the fifth Baronet.
