Peder Bergenhammer Sørensen
Peder Bergenhammer Sørensen (3 June 1914 – 29 June 1944) was a member of the Danish resistance executed by the German occupying power. Biography While a brewery worker Sørensen became a member of the Hvidsten group. The group helped the British Special Operations Executive parachute weapons and supplies into Denmark for distribution to the resistance. In March 1944 the Gestapo made an "incredible number of arrests" including in the region of Randers Sørensen, his wife, her 17-year-old sister Gerda, her brother Niels and their father the "nationally known folklore collector and keeper of Hvidsten Inn Marius Fiil". The following month De frie Danske reported that several arrestees from Hvidsten had been transferred from Randers to Vestre Fængsel. On 29 June 1944 Sørensen, his father in law, his brother in law and five other members of the Hvidsten group were executed in Ryvangen. Niels Fiil
Niels Fiil (12 June 1920 – 29 June 1944) was a member of the Danish resistance executed by the German occupying power. Biography In addition to being a member of the Hvidsten group, Fiil was also a farmer while helping out at the inn. The group helped the British Special Operations Executive parachute weapons and supplies into Denmark for distribution to the resistance. In March 1944 the Gestapo made an "incredible number of arrests" including in the region of Randers Fiil, his father the "nationally known folklore collector and keeper of Hvidsten inn Marius Fiil", his 17-year-old sister Gerda, his sister Kirstine and her husband brewery worker Peter Sørensen. Mindelunden I Ryvangen - Grave-3
Ryvangen Memorial Park () is a memorial park in Ryvangen officially inaugurated on 5 May 1950 to commemorate fallen members of the Danish resistance to the German occupation of Denmark during World War II. The location in ''Ryvangen'', which means "rye field", was acquired in 1893 by the army for a barracks and exercise field. On 29 August 1943, when the Danish cooperation with Germany broke down, the German occupying forces seized the army and naval facilities in all of Denmark including Ryvangen. While the German army used the barracks for themselves, part of the exercise field was used as an execution and burial site for members of the Danish resistance. The execution site consisted of three wooden poles to which the condemned were tied and executed by firing squad. Ryvangen or Ryvangskvarteret ( English: The Ryvang neighbourhood) is a neighbourhood of single-family detached homes in the northern part of Østerbro, on the border with Hellerup, in Copenhagen, Denmark. History The name Ryvangen translates to "The Rye Field". The portion located to the west of the north-bound railway line was ceded to the Army in 1893 and used for the construction of the Svanemøllen Barracks. The area on the east side of the railway tracks was used for the establishment of a new residential neighbourhood of single-family, detached houses in a successful attempt to keep wealthy tax-payers in the municipality. With improved infrastructure, they had increasingly been settling in either Frederiksberg or the northern suburbs. The new neighbourhood attracted a mixture of businessmen, editors, lawyers and artists. A local plan for the area was adopted in 1995.
