The Passenger Railway Services (Public Ownership) Act 2024 is an Act of Parliament (United Kingdom), act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom which provided for the renationalisation of Train operating company, train operating companies. History The Labour Party (UK), Labour Party first adopted a policy of nationalisation of the train operating companies in 2016, and this policy was developed during the tenure of Andy McDonald as Shadow Secretary of State for Transport. Before the act was passed, London North Eastern Railway, Southeastern (train operating company), Southeastern, Northern Trains and TransPennine Express, Transpennine Express were under the control of DfT OLR Holdings, the operator of last resort owned by the Department for Transport. Caledonian Sleeper
''Caledonian Sleeper'' is the collective name for overnight Sleeping car, sleeper train services between London and Scotland, in the United Kingdom. It is one of only two currently operating sleeper services on the railway in the United Kingdom – the other being the ''Night Riviera'', which runs between London and Penzance. A sleeper service has been run along the West Coast Main Line since 24 February 1873. The Docklands Light Railway (DLR) is an automated medium-capacity rail system, light metro system primarily serving the redeveloped London Docklands, Docklands area of London and providing a direct connection between London's two major financial districts, Canary Wharf and the City of London. West Midlands Trains (WMT) is a British train operating company.
