Douglas Partie
Robert Douglas "Doug" Partie (born October 21, 1961) is an American former volleyball player who was a member of the United States men's national volleyball team that won the gold medal at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul. Four years later in the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, he won the bronze medal with the national team. Partie helped the United States win the 1985 FIVB World Cup, the 1986 FIVB World Championship, and the 1987 Pan American Games. Partita
Partita (also ''partie'', ''partia'', ''parthia'', or ''parthie'') closely resemble the dance suites of the Baroque music, Baroque Period (and are often used synonymously with Suite (music), suites) with the addition of a prelude movement at the beginning of each partita. It was originally the name for a single-instrumental piece of music (16th and 17th centuries), but Johann Kuhnau Thomaskantor, (Thomaskantor at Leipzig until 1722), his student Christoph Graupner, and Johann Sebastian Bach (1685–1750) used it for collections of musical pieces, as a synonym for suite. In the early Baroque period, a partita referred to a string of Variation (music), variations or a piece in parts that reflected different dances.
