The Socialist Party ( , PS) is a social democratic French-speaking political party in Belgium. As of the 2024 elections, it is the fourth largest party in the Belgian Chamber of Representatives and the second largest Francophone party. The party is led by Paul Magnette. The party supplies the Minister-president of the French Community ( Rudy Demotte), and the Brussels-Capital Region ( Rudi Vervoort). In the German-speaking community, the party is known as the ''Sozialistische Partei'' (SP). The PS is very commonly part of governing coalitions, and dominates most local authorities because of the extremely fragmented nature of Belgian political institutions, particularly in Francophone areas. The Socialist Party ( , PS) is a centre-left to left-wing political party in France. It holds social democratic and pro-European views. The PS was for decades the largest party of the "French Left" and used to be one of the two major political parties under the Fifth Republic, along with the Rally for the Republic in the late 20th century, and with the Union for a Popular Movement in the early 2000s. It is currently led by First Secretary Olivier Faure. The PS is a member of the Party of European Socialists, Progressive Alliance and Socialist International. The PS was founded in 1969 from a merger of the French Section of the Workers' International (SFIO), the Convention of Republican Institutions led by François Mitterrand, and other groups. The Mauritian Socialist Party (, PSM) was a political party in Mauritius. History The ''Parti Socialiste Mauricien'' (PSM) was founded by then Labour MP Harish Boodhoo on 16 September 1979 as a splinter group who were expelled from the Labour Party. The other Labour MPs who formed the party were Rohit Beedassy and Radha Gungoosingh. Other prominent members of the PSM were Jocelyn Seenyen, Armoogum Parsooraman and Kishore Deerpalsing. Prior to the formation of PSM Harish Boodhoo served as a Labour-CAM-PMSD MP from 1976 to 1979 where he repeatedly criticized actions of his own government. The main targets of his criticism were Minister of Finance Sir Veerasamy Ringadoo and two sitting ministers Lutchmeeparsad Badry (Social Security) and Gyandeo Dabee (Cooperatives). The Socialist Party (; , or PS), is a socialist party in Tunisia. Established in 2006 under its original name Left Socialist Party (; , or PSG), the party did not achieve legal party status until 2011. History The party was established in 2006 as a split from banned Tunisian Workers' Communist Party. Under the rule of Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, the new party however remained illegal, too, until the Tunisian Revolution in 2011. On 17 January 2011, the party was legalized together with two other opposition parties. It subsequently contested the 2011 Constituent Assembly election as part of the Democratic Modernist Pole alliance, which won five out of the 217 seats.
