Pandurang Narayan Salunkhe
Shri Pandurang Narayan Salunkhe (12 Sep 1917 - 20 May 2007) - popularly known as Dada, was an Indian independence activist (Freedom Fighter) representing Satara district Patan Taluka. Earlier, he was a member of ''Prati-sarkar'' formed by krantisinh Nana Patil. British Raj period Pandurang Narayan Salunkhe was born on 12 September 1917 at Maldan Tal- Patan. Salunkhe was imprisoned three to four times during the struggle with the British Raj from 1939 to 1942. He was active mainly in Patan, south Karad Talukas in Satara Districts. For few years 6-7 he was arrested by British Government in the year 1942. Nana Patil
Nana Patil (Nana Ramchandra Pisal Patil) (3 August 1900 - 6 December 1976) popularly known as ''Krantisinh'' ( lit. 'revolutionary lion'), was an Indian independence activist, freedom fighter and Member of Parliament for the Communist Party of India representing Beed district of Marathwada region. He was a source of inspiration for the people. Earlier, he had been a founder of the revolutionary Prati-Sarkar formed in Yedemachindra Sangli district of west Maharashtra. Krantisinh Nana Patil established a parallel government in Satara district. He died on 6 December 1976. British Raj period Nana Patil was born on 3 August 1900 at Yedemachindra, Maharashtra. His full name was Nana Ramchandra Pisal and he was a founding member of the Hindustan Republican Association who went underground between 1929 and 1932. Salunkhe (साळुंखे) is a prominent Maratha clan mostly from Maharashtra and neighbouring states. They have scattered through regions of Maratha dominance such as Beed, Akola, Buldana, Parbhani, Jalna, Aurangabad, Chalisgaon, Jalgaon, Solapur, Latur, Nagpur, Amravati, Baroda, Gwalior, Satara, and Kolhapur and some other parts of India. Karad
Karad is a city in Satara district of Indian States and territories of India, state of Maharashtra. It is located 302 km (180.19 miles) from Mumbai, 74 km from Sangli and 162 km from Pune. Indian Copper Plate Inscriptions
Indian copper plate inscriptions are legal records engraved on copper plates. The practice was widespread and long-running in the Indian subcontinent; it may date back to as early as the 3rd millennium BCE, however the vast majority of recovered plates were produced in the 1st millennium CE. The plates were legal documents which registered and recorded an act of endowment, i.e. a grant or donation, typically of land or concessions. The plate contained bureaucratic information on land tenure and taxation essential to the operation of the state. The copper plates can survive intact indefinitely: copper, being a non-ferrous metal, does not rust or otherwise deteriorate when exposed to oxygen the way iron does, but rather develops a protective patina.
