Panachaiki FC
Panachaiki F.C. (Greek: Παναχαϊκή ΓΕ ΠΑΕ ) is a Greek professional football club based in Patras, Greece, that competes in Super League Greece 2, the second tier of Greek football. Founded in 14 June 1891, they have reached the Greek Cup semi-finals twice (1979, 1997). It was the first Greek club outside both the Athens and Thessaloniki metropolitan areas to represent Greece in a European competition, the 1973–74 UEFA Cup. In 1979, the department became professional and independent. They have played their home games in various grounds since their first official game in 1899, mainly the Kostas Davourlis Stadium, their traditional home ground, and the Pampeloponnisiako Stadium. Kostas Davourlis Stadium
Kostas Davourlis Stadium is a stadium in Patras, Greece. It is the home of Panachaiki F.C.. Work on the grounds started in 1935. Originally called Stadium of Panachaiki, it has been officially renamed Kostas Davourlis in 1992 after the great football player who died the same year. History It was inaugurated on June 6, 1939. Kostas Davourlis Stadium originally had one stand (south). It acquired its present horseshoe-like shape in 1974. The stadium is in a much better condition today than a few years ago. The placement of plastic seats and the construction of the roof (north stand) in 1997; the refurbishment of facilities below the stands (VIP club, cafeteria, club shop) and the installation of floodlights in 2000 have done much to upgrade it. Greco-Turkish War (1919–1922)
The Greco-Turkish War of 1919–1922 was fought between Greece and the Turkish National Movement during the partitioning of the Ottoman Empire in the aftermath of World War I, between 15 May 1919 and 14 October 1922. This conflict was a part of the Turkish War of Independence. The Greek campaign was launched primarily because the western Allies, particularly British Prime Minister David Lloyd George, had promised Greece territorial gains at the expense of the Ottoman Empire, recently defeated in World War I. Greek claims stemmed from the fact that Western Anatolia had been part of Ancient Greece and the Byzantine Empire before the Turks conquered the area in the 12th–15th centuries. The armed conflict started when the Greek forces landed in Smyrna (now İzmir), on 15 May 1919. The Football League () was the second highest professional football league in Greece since its inception in 1962 as ''Beta Ethniki'' and until 2019. Panegialios ( (''Panegialios Gymnastics Club'', referring to Aigialeia, a subprefecture covering the northeastern part of Achaea) is a football club based in Aigio, Greece. Panegialios has a long tradition in Greek football championships and has several appearances in the Greek Super League (former A' Ethniki), 2nd Division and 3rd Division. Additionally the team has reached twice the semi-finals of the Greek Cup competition. Panegialios is one of the most successful and popular teams in Achaea and Peloponnese. The 1955–56 Panhellenic Championship was the 20th season of the highest football league of Greece and an exceptionally interesting championship, since 5 out of the 6 teams were challenging for the title until the final fixture, while Aris was left behind from the beginning. In the end Olympiacos won their 12th championship (3 consecutive) although he started with 4 consecutive draws. Before the final stage , in that year, they were two qualification stages. The 1953–54 Panhellenic Championship was the 18th season of the highest football league of Greece. There was an important innovation, as in its final phase, teams from the Greek region participated in a single group for the first time, bypassing the "Athens - Piraeus - Thessaloniki" triptych. The opportunity to claim the title of champion of a provincial team, was given for the first time in the period 1938-39, but where the championship was held in 2 groups. Olympiacos won their 10th championship being unbeaten for the 5th time in their history. Panhellenic Championship
The Super League Greece 1 (), or Stoiximan Super League for sponsorship reasons, is a professional association football league in Greece and the highest level of the Greek football league system. The league was formed on 16 July 2006 and replaced ''Alpha Ethniki'' at the top of the Greek league system. The members of the cooperative are the Football Limited Companies (P.A.E.) that have the right to participate in the Super League 1 championship. The president of Super League 1 is Vangelis Marinakis, who has been re-elected for the third time.
