PJ Harvey Discography
The discography of PJ Harvey, an English alternative rock musician, consists of ten studio albums, two collaboration albums with John Parish, twenty-two singles, one extended play, three compilation albums and a number of collaborations with other artists. Following her departure from Automatic Dlamini in January 1991, Harvey formed the PJ Harvey Trio. The trio, which included Rob Ellis and Steve Vaughan, released '' Dry'' in 1992 on the independent label Too Pure and later released ''Rid of Me'' in 1993 on major label Island. The trio split in late 1993 and Harvey continued as a solo artist under the same name. PJ Harvey
Polly Jean Harvey (born 9 October 1969) is an English singer, songwriter, and musician. Primarily known as a vocalist and guitarist, she is also proficient with a wide range of instruments. Harvey began her career in 1988 when she joined local band Automatic Dlamini as a vocalist, guitarist and saxophonist. The band's frontman, John Parish, became her long-term collaborator. In 1991, she formed an eponymous trio called PJ Harvey and subsequently began her career as PJ Harvey. The trio released two studio albums called ''Dry'' (1992) and '' Rid of Me'' (1993) before disbanding, after which Harvey continued as a solo artist. The Mercury Prize, formerly called the Mercury Music Prize, is an annual music prize awarded for the best album released in the United Kingdom by a British or Irish act. It was created by Jon Webster and Robert Chandler in association with the British Phonographic Industry and British Association of Record Dealers in 1992 as an alternative to the Brit Awards. The prize was originally sponsored by Mercury Communications, a brand owned by Cable & Wireless, from which the prize gets its name. It was later sponsored by Technics (1998 to 2001), Panasonic (2002 and 2003), Nationwide Building Society (2004 to 2008) and Barclaycard (2009–14). ''A Woman a Man Walked By'' is the second collaborative studio album by English alternative rock musicians PJ Harvey and John Parish, released on 27 March 2009 by Island Records. Background It is the second collaboration between Harvey and Parish, following 1996's ''Dance Hall at Louse Point''. The album was recorded in Bristol and Dorset, and mixed by Flood. This album is made up of ten new songs. All the music is written by Parish, who also plays most of the instruments. The vocals and all lyrics are by Harvey.
