P.K. Chishala
Peter Kalumba Chishalabetter known by his stage name PK Chishala, was a Zambian musician. He is considered by many, to be one of the greatest musicians of the Kalindula genre. He contributed to the development and popularising the genre. His signature song is "Common Man", he has also produced several hits i.e. "Pole-Pole (church elder)", "Na Musonda" , "Mwaume Walutuku" and so forth. Music career He debuted with "Icisosa Cipamano", which he recorded at Malachite Studios during his school days. Although it was not a huge success, the song gave an indication of what he was capable of doing. He followed it up with "Ba Pastor", which took a swipe at the immoral behavior of pastors. Naturally, it did not go down well in religious circles. Some sections of society thought that the song was a true story, but PK refuted that. Kalindula
Kalindula is a kind of bass guitar which gives its name to a style of popular music in southern-central Africa. It originated in the late 20th century and is popular in Zambia and is also found in Malawi and Zimbabwe. Some people claim it originated in the Democratic Republic of Congo but this cannot be fully supported by the evidence. Within Zambia, Kalindula is believed to have originated in Luapula Province, particularly in the Samfya district. This genre evolved during the mid 1940s to early 60s from a local dance known as Kontolola or Pimpinika. The genre is regarded as neo-traditional music because it blends elements of popular 20th century music with traditional Zambian styles like Akalela and Infunkutu. The LP (from long playing or long play) is an Analog recording, analog sound storage medium, specifically a phonograph record format characterized by: a speed of revolutions per minute, rpm; a 12- or 10-inch (30- or 25-cm) diameter; use of the "microgroove" groove specification; and a vinyl (a copolymer of vinyl chloride acetate) composition disk. Kenneth Kaunda (28 April 1924 – 17 June 2021), also known as KK, was a Zambian politician who served as the first president of Zambia from 1964 to 1991. Chingola
Chingola is a town in Zambia's Copperbelt Province, the country's copper-mining region, with a population of 256,560 (2022 census). It is the home of Nchanga Copper Mine, a deep-shaft high-grade content copper mining operation, which subsequently (in the 1960s) led to the development of two open pit operations, Chingola Open Pit and then Nchanga Open Pit (the latter being the second largest open cast mine in the world).
