Overseas (album)
''Overseas'' is an album by pianist Tommy Flanagan and his trio, recorded in 1957. It was Flanagan's debut album as a leader and was made in Sweden whilst touring with J. J. Johnson. Recording and music Pianist Tommy Flanagan was touring Europe as part of trombonist J. J. Johnson's band in 1957 when he was given the chance to lead a recording session for the first time. Flanagan added bassist Wilbur Little and drummer Elvin Jones for the session in Stockholm on August 15, and this album was the result. Most of the compositions were Flanagan originals. Releases and reception ''Overseas'' was released by Prestige Records. Very similar selections of tracks were also released as ''Tommy Flanagan Trio'' by Metronome and as ''Trio Overseas'' by Prestige. All of the tracks from the session were later issued by DIW as ''The Complete Overseas''. ''The Penguin Guide to Jazz'' complimented Flanagan's touch and "trim melodic ideas". Overseas is an American indie rock band, that includes David Bazan of Pedro The Lion, Headphones anLo Tom Will Johnson of Centro-matic and South San Gabriel; plus Bubba & Matt Kadane of Bedhead and The New Year. Their debut album was officially announced on April 4, 2013, and was released on June 11, 2013. A second album is being finished with a possible 2019 release date according to the band's website. A diaspora ( ) is a population that is scattered across regions which are separate from its geographic place of origin. Historically, the word was used first in reference to the dispersion of Greeks in the Hellenic world, and later Jews after the Babylonian exile. An expatriate (often shortened to expat) is a person who resides outside their native country. In common usage, the term often refers to educated professionals, skilled workers, or artists taking positions outside their home country, either independently or sent abroad by their employers. Outremer
The Crusader States, also known as Outremer, were four Catholic realms in the Middle East that lasted from 1098 to 1291. These feudal polities were created by the Latin Catholic leaders of the First Crusade through conquest and political intrigue. The four states were the County of Edessa (10981150), the Principality of Antioch (10981287), the County of Tripoli (11021289), and the Kingdom of Jerusalem (10991291). The Kingdom of Jerusalem covered what is now Israel and Palestine, the West Bank, the Gaza Strip, and adjacent areas. The other northern states covered what are now Syria, south-eastern Turkey, and Lebanon. Overseas Collectivity
The French overseas collectivities (''collectivité d'outre-mer'' or ''COM'') are first-order administrative divisions of France, like the French regions, but have a semi-autonomous status. The COMs include some former French overseas colonies and other French overseas entities with a particular status, all of which became COMs by constitutional reform on 28 March 2003. The COMs differ from overseas regions and overseas departments, which have the same status as metropolitan France but are located outside Europe. As integral parts of France, overseas collectivities are represented in the National Assembly, Senate and Economic and Social Council. An overseas constituency or overseas electoral district is any electoral district located outside of a nation-state's borders but which is recognized by the state's government as a district for the representation of its expatriate (and, technically, military) residents who live within the territory of another nation-state.
