Osamu Noguchi
(24 January 1934 - 9 May 2016) is often credited for creating the sport and the term kickboxing. Biography Osamu Noguchi family moved to Shanghai in 1938 at the invitation of Yoshio Kodama, Noguchi spent his childhood being entertained by Japanese jazz singer Dick Mine in nightclubs run by his father Susumu Noguchi. When the Japanese were defeated in the Pacific War, the Noguchi family were repatriated back to Japan. After Osamu Noguchi graduated Meiji University, he became the manager of Noguchi Boxing Gym which was owned by his father Susumu Noguchi, and worked as a boxing promoter. In 1961, Noguchi became the owner of Noguchi Gym after his father died, and also promoted his younger brother Kyō Noguchi's boxing matches on television with NET (Nihon Educational Television Co., Ltd, now TV Asahi). Kenji Kurosaki
is a Japanese martial arts instructor, specializing in Full-Contact Karate and Kickboxing. He is a 7th Dan Black Belt in Kyokushin Karate and operates various martial schools focusing in different arts. He is most well known as a pioneer of Full-Contact Karate and Kickboxing in both Japan and Netherlands. Biography Early Kyokushin Kurosaki began studying Goju-Ryu Karate in 1951 at the "Asakusa-dojo" under Gogen Yamaguchi where Masutatsu Oyama also trained. After Mas Oyama left in 1953 to open the Oyama Dojo in Ikebukuro, Kurosaki became one of the instructors alongside Masashi Ishibashi and . Among the students who trained there during this time, Shigeru Oyama, Hideyuki Ashihara, Hatsuo Royama, Terutomo Yamazaki and others were among them. Kick No Oni
, also known as ''The Demon of Kickboxing'', is a manga written by Ikki Kajiwara and illustrated by Kentaro Nakajou. It was based on the life of the kickboxer Tadashi Sawamura. History Written by Ikki Kajiwara and illustrated by Kentaro Nakajou, the manga was published in 1969 in the magazine ''Shōnen King''. It received an anime television series in 1970 that ran until 1971 by Toei Animation. Ikki Kajiwara is known for his other sports manga, one of them, Ashita no Joe, is illustrated by Tetsuya Chiba and was published between 1968 and 1973 in Weekly Shōnen Magazine. Hiroshi Itsuki
is a Japanese singer and composer. As of 1987, he had sold 20 million singles and 4 million LP albums. Itsuki is usually regarded as an ''enka'' singer, but he has also released a cover version of Southern All Stars' J-pop song "Tsunami". Career In 1965, Itsuki debuted under the stage name "Masaru Matsuyama," but did not initially achieve commercial success. Although he changed his stage name to "Eiichi Ichijō" in 1967, and then to "Ken Mitani" in 1969, there was no improvement in his music's commercial sales. Yoko Yamaguchi
was a Japanese lyricist and novelist. In 1985, Yamaguchi won the Naoki Prize for her novels, ''Enka no Mushi'' ("Japanese Ballad Lover") and ''Robai'' ("Old Japanese Plum"). Life and career Yamaguchi was born in Nagoya as the illegitimate child of a wealthy restaurant owner and a waitress. She dropped out of high school at 16 and opened a coffee shop named "Yoko" with backing by an elderly widower. Although it was successful, she quit after about three years. In 1957, Yamaguchi passed Toei's 4th New Face competition of 1,000 people, becoming an actress. However, she only ever had small parts, and quit acting after two years. When she was 20 years old, Yamaguchi met then-yakuza boss Noboru Ando. She became his mistress, known to members of his crime family, the , as "Hime" ("princess").
