The Orlando Solar Bears are a professional ice hockey team that plays their home games at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. They play in the South Division of the ECHL's Eastern Conference and are affiliated with the Tampa Bay Lightning of the National Hockey League and Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League. History Orlando Pro Hockey Operations, L.P. and primary owners Joe Haleski, Bob Ohrablo, and Jason Siegel, obtained an expansion franchise in the ECHL in November 2011. The team revived the name of the original Orlando Solar Bears, who played in the International Hockey League from 1995 to 2001. The franchise also retained the original colors of their IHL predecessor, while adding the color Sunrise Gold. Estero is a village in Lee County, Florida, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 36,939. During the 2010 census, Estero was an unincorporated community, or census-designated place, the population at that time was 22,612. Estero incorporated as a village in 2014. Vince Williams (ice Hockey)
Vince Williams (born November 27, 1975) is a former ice hockey defenseman and a current scout with the expansion Vegas Golden Knights. He was previously the head coach of the Orlando Solar Bears of the ECHL from 2013-2015 and the Trenton Titans from 2011-2013. Playing career Williams attended Concordia University until 1998, where he played on their ice hockey team for two seasons where he recorded 25 points. When he left college, Williams was signed by the Indianapolis Ice formerly of the IHL. After 33 games with Indianapolis, Williams was signed by the Columbus Chill of the ECHL where he tallied 13 points in 43 games. In 1999-2000, Williams was acquired by the Trenton Titans and played in 1 game for the AHL's Lowell Lock Monsters, the furthest he's progress professionally. Drake Berehowsky (born January 3, 1972) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman. He is best known for his time in the National Hockey League (NHL), where he played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Pittsburgh Penguins, Edmonton Oilers, Nashville Predators, Vancouver Canucks and Phoenix Coyotes. Built in 1998, the Orlando Sportsplex (formerly the RDV Sportsplex) is a multi-purpose sports and recreation facility that includes the Genesis Health Club, Genesis Ice Den, and nearly 100,000 square feet of Class A office/medical-use space occupied by tenants located in Orlando, Florida. The Long Beach Ice Dogs were an American professional ice hockey team based in Long Beach, California at the Long Beach Sports Arena. They played until the end of the 2006–07 ECHL season. Franchise history The current Utah Grizzlies franchise started in 1981 as the Nashville South Stars in Nashville, Tennessee, in the Central Hockey League.
