Olga (russian: О́льга) is an urban locality (an urban-type settlement) and the administrative center of Olginsky District of Primorsky Krai, Russia, located on the Olga Bay of the Sea of Japan, northeast of Nakhodka. Population: History During the Balhae Kingdom period, a town called ''Anju'' was founded near the present-day Olga, on the shores of the Olga Bay. The military post of Olga was established by the Russians in 1858, several months after the region passed to Russia under the terms of the Treaty of Aigun. It was named for St. Olga. In the 19th century, it had a significant Chinese minority. This town has a similar name to the eldest daughter of Nicholas II. Nakhodka ( rus, Нахо́дка, p=nɐˈxotkə) is a port city in Primorsky Krai, Russia, located on the Trudny Peninsula jutting into the Nakhodka Bay of the Sea of Japan, about east of Vladivostok, the administrative center of the krai. Population: History The Nakhodka Bay, around which the city is organized, was first known to the Russians on the corvette '' Amerika'', which sought shelter in the bay during a storm in 1859. In honor of this occasion, the ice-free and relatively calm bay was named Nakhodka, which in Russian means "discovery" or "lucky find". An imperial settlement existed here from 1868 to 1872 but was abandoned following the death of its administrator, Harold Furuhjelm. In the fall of 1870, Otto Wilhelm Lindholm established a whaling station across the bay from the settlement. Balhae Kingdom
Balhae ( ko, 발해, zh, c=渤海, p=Bóhǎi, russian: Бохай, translit=Bokhay, ), also rendered as Bohai, was a multi-ethnic kingdom whose land extends to what is today Northeast China, the Korean Peninsula and the Russian Far East. It was established in 698 by Dae Joyeong (Da Zuorong) and originally known as the Kingdom of Jin (Zhen) until 713 when its name was changed to Balhae.
