Omer Shem Tov
Omer Shem Tov is a former Israeli hostage who was abducted by Hamas from the Nova music festival on October 7, 2023, and held captive in Gaza for 505 days. His ordeal, including the abuse he suffered and his refusal to cooperate with captors’ demands to harm others, was widely reported in major news outlets and made him a symbol of the ongoing hostage crisis and its impact on Israeli society. Just after he was kidnapped, Shem Tov's parents were among the founding members who formed the Hostages and Missing Families Forum. His uncle traveled to the Red Cross headquarters in Geneva to petition for medical assistance for him. Following his release in February 2025, Shem Tov traveled internationally to advocate for the release of remaining hostages, appeared and spoke at public events, and met with political figures. Naama Levy
Naama Levy (; born 22 June 2004) is an Israelis, Israeli woman who was serving in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) when she was abducted from the IDF surveillance base at Nahal Oz near the Gaza–Israel barrier on the morning of 7 October 2023, during the October 7 attacks, Hamas-led attack on Israel. Later that day, Hamas released footage on social media showing Levy in the Gaza Strip, hands tied behind her back, as armed militants dragged her from the trunk of a Jeep and forced her inside the vehicle. One of the first viral videos of the Gaza war, the footage showed Levy with multiple visible injuries and a large bloodstain on the seat of her gray sweatpants, which gave rise to widespread speculation that she had been sexually abused. Images from the footage came to symbolize Sexual and gender-based violence in the 2023 Hamas-led attack on Israel, sexual and gender based violence against Israeli women during the attacks.
