Olympics Preparation Centers Of Turkey
Olympics Preparation Centers of Turkey (, TOHM) are facilities governed by the Ministry of Youth and Sports to support sportspeople preparing to shape the future of Turkish sports, especially to train future Olympic athletes. The organization was established in 2015. The main center is in Ankara. There are a total of 22 centers for Olympic sports and one center for Paralympic sports in provinces across the country. A total of 22 different sport disciplines are offered for training under the supervision of experienced coaches. Each center provides training in certain branches being at least two and maximum four. The branches are selected by taking into account the sports potential and halls of that city. The centers provide support for academic, social and personal development. The Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Turkey () is a governmental agency within the Cabinet of Turkey in charge of regulating activities related to sports and youth development in Republic of Turkey. The ministry is headed by Osman Aşkın Bak. History On 29 June 1938, the Directoriate of Physical Education was established. Following the 1969 general election, in the Cabinet Süleyman Demirel II, the Ministry of Youth and Sports was formed on 3 November for the first time, and İsmet Sezgin was appointed as its first minister. After the 1983 general election, the ministry was renamed National Education, Youth and Sports on 14 December. The Ministry of Youth and Sports was re-established as an independent ministry on 29 June 2011 after the forming of Cabinet Erdoğan III. Mehtap Kurnaz
Mehtap Kurnaz (born May 1, 1995) is a Turkish weightlifter competing in the 63 kg division. Kurnaz took part at the 2014 World Weightlifting Championships in Almaty, Kazakhstan without having success. She won the bronze medal in the clean and jerk event lifting 108 kg in the women's 63 kg division at the 2014 European Junior and Under-23 Weightlifting Championships held in Cyprus. In the snatch event, she ranked fifth by lifting 88 kg. In the total, she missed the bronze medal by 1 kg with her result of 196 kg. In 2015, she won three gold medals at the 3rd Weightlifting Championship of Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation in Antalya, Turkey by lifting 83 kg in the snatch, 100 kg in the clean&jerk event and so 183 kg in total.
