Andrew Odom
Andrew Odom (December 15, 1936 – December 23, 1991) was an American Chicago blues and electric blues singer and songwriter. Born in Denham Springs, Louisiana, United States, he is best known for the close resemblance of his singing style to that of Bobby Bland and B.B. King. He recorded three solo albums in his lifetime and performed regularly around Chicago and further afield until his death. Life and career Odom, who was African-American, was born in Denham Springs, Louisiana, United States, the son of Lula Odom on December 15, 1936. He learned to sing at his family's church. In 1955, he relocated to East St. Louis, Illinois, and began working with Albert King and Johnny Williams (blues musician), Johnny Williams. In the late 1950s he sang with Johnny O'Neal (singer), Johnny O'Neal's band. Through O'Neal he met Earl Hooker, with whom he recorded and performed for a number of years. Joseph Algerine Odom (March 22, 1948 – November 2, 1991) was an American attorney who later became a musician. He came to prominence after his appearance as one of the main characters in John Berendt's 1994 true-crime book ''Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil''. Early life Odom was born in Claxton, Georgia, in 1948, to Herman and Gwendolyn. He later moved to Savannah, where he was a "ne'er-do-well" attorney, based on West Broad Street. He became a proficient jazz pianist and a ballroom dancer. Tyler Odom
Northstar was an American band formed in 1997 in Huntsville, Alabama. History Early years and debut album (1997–2003) Since the band's inception, they have had around five guitarists and three different bassists, have been a three-piece, four-piece, and a five-piece. Due to a lack of a dedicated music scene in the Huntsville area, the band decided to start touring the country in 2000. They booked their first tour, bought a van, and set out on the road. After two years of booking, promoting, and producing everything themselves, the band signed a deal with Triple Crown Records of New York City in June 2002. By this point, the only original member in the band was drummer Gabe Renfroe. Their line-up solidified with Nick Torres on lead vocals and guitar, Tyler Odom on guitar and Shawn Reagan on bass. Susan A. Odom (16 November 1980 – 18 April 2021) was a Professor of Chemistry at the University of Kentucky who developed redox active organic compounds for energy storage applications. Early life and education Odom was inspired to explore STEM fields by her father who was a metallurgical engineer. She studied chemistry at the University of Kentucky and graduated in 2003, working under the supervision of Geoffrey Coates at Cornell University (a summer NSF REU) and John Anthony at the University of Kentucky. Sammy Joe Odom (November 13, 1941 - January 18, 2001) was a professional football player, who played for the Houston Oilers in 1964. Odom was born November 13, 1941, in Shreveport, Louisiana, and attended Minden High School in Minden, Louisiana, and then Northwestern State University, playing for the Northwestern State Demons football as a linebacker/defensive tackle in the Gulf States Conference. He was drafted in the seventh round of the 1964 NFL draft with pick 95 by the Cleveland Browns and pick 78 in the tenth round of the 1964 AFL Draft by the Houston Oilers He opted to go to the Oilers and played fourteen games as a defensive tackle with the Oilers in 1964, making two interceptions for 22 yards. Lometa Ruth Odom (November 29, 1933 – January 27, 2017) was an American women's basketball player and coach. Odom played for Wayland Baptist from 1953 to 1956 during which the team began a streak of 131 consecutive victories (the longest streak in college and professional sports team history). Odom was a member of the U.S. women's national team which won the gold medal in basketball at the 1955 Pan American Games. In 2011 she was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame. Joseph Caleb Odom (born January 9, 1992) is an American former professional baseball catcher. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Seattle Mariners and Tampa Bay Rays. Career Odom attended Vestavia Hills High School in Vestavia Hills, Alabama. He played for the school's baseball team as a catcher, serving as a defensive replacement. He did not begin to start for Vestavia Hills until he lost weight in his junior year.
