Odette Eid
Odette Haidar Eid (March 7, 1922 in Zahlé, Lebanon – July 13, 2019 in São Paulo, Brazil) was a Brazilian sculptor. Biography When she was three years old, Eid emigrated with her family to São Paulo in Brazil. Eid's mother, a self-taught painter, specialized in copies of great masters. Decades later, already married and with four children, Eid started taking courses such as: Art History at IADÊ-Art and Design Institute, with Paulo Ramos Machado; Brazilian Art at Espade, with Loy Cox Vilela; Brazilian Folklore Theory and Research at Escola de Folclore, with Rossini Tavares de Lima and Julieta de Andrade; Myths and Magic, Art History, with Fábio Magalhães; Contemporary Art, with Alice Brill and Avancini. At the age of 52, Eid was diagnosed with breast cancer and had to undergo a mastectomy that left her right arm with a chronic deficiency. Zahlé
Zahlé () is a city in eastern Lebanon, and the capital and largest city of Beqaa Governorate, Lebanon. With around 150,000 inhabitants, it is the third-largest city in Lebanon after Beirut and Tripoli, Lebanon, Tripoli and the fourth-largest taking the whole urban area (the Jounieh urban area is larger). The Bahia Museum of Art ( Portuguese: Museu de Arte da Bahia) is a museum located in Salvador de Bahia, Brazil. This museum is one of the oldest museums in the State of Bahia. History The museum was created to preserve the historical and ethnographic heritage of Salvador de Bahia, over time, the museum focused on expanding its catalog of collections in the arts. The museum was founded in 1918. In 1982, the museum moved to the Vitória Palace. The Vitória Palace was formerly used as the headquarters of the Secretary of Education. In 2019, the museum was awarded the medal "Diploma and Medal for Museological Merit" by the Brazilian Regional Museology Council. The Prestes Maia Gallery ( Portuguese: ''Galeria Prestes Maia'') is an artistic and cultural space located in the city of São Paulo that has an underground connection between Patriarca Square and Anhangabaú Valley, with an exit under the Viaduto do Chá. In 1955, the first public escalators in the city were inaugurated in the gallery's passageway. History The Prestes Maia Gallery is composed of three floors: the basement, which gives access to the Anhangabaú Valley under the Viaduto do Chá, the first floor and the mezzanine, where the Almeida Júnior Room is located. Inaugurated in 1940 by then mayor Francisco Prestes Maia, it has a space of 6,000 square meters where, shortly after the inauguration, the Salão Paulista de Belas Artes was held with the presence of artists such as Anita Malfatti.
