Notre-Dame-de-Grâce—Lachine (formerly known as Lachine—Notre-Dame-de-Grâce) was a federal electoral district in Quebec, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1997 to 2015. Its population in 2006 was 104,715. Notre-Dame-de-Grâce (also known as Notre-Dame-de-Grâce—Lachine East) was a federal electoral district in Quebec, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1949 to 1997. This riding was created in 1947. In 1980 its name was changed to "Notre-Dame-de-Grâce—Lachine East". It was abolished in 1987 when it was redistributed into Lachine—Lac-Saint-Louis and a new Notre-Dame-de-Grâce riding. Isabelle Morin
Isabelle Morin (born February 14, 1985) is a Canadian politician, who represented the Quebec riding of Notre-Dame-de-Grâce—Lachine in the House of Commons of Canada under the banner of the New Democratic Party from May 2011 to November 2015. She defeated the local long-time liberal MP Marlene Jennings by more than 4,000 votes in the 2011 federal election. Morin has a diploma in literature from Cégep François-Xavier Garneau in Quebec City and a bachelor of education from the Université de Sherbrooke. During her university studies, she was executive vice-president of the students’ federation (FEUS) and sat on the board of directors of the Fédération universitaire du Québec. In 2007 she co-founded Vélorution, an organization promoting the rights of bicyclists in Sherbrooke. Marlene Jennings
Marlene Jennings (born November 10, 1951) is a former Canadian politician. She was a member of the Liberal Party of Canada in the House of Commons of Canada, and represented the riding of Notre-Dame-de-Grâce—Lachine from 1997 to 2011. Jennings was born in Longueuil, Quebec. Her father, Preston Jennings,was Black American from Alabama and immigrated to Canada as a CPR Sleeping Car Porter. Her mother, Gilberte Garand was Franco-Manitoban of Belgian & French-Canadian ancestry. Jennings is a former lawyer and senior public servant. She is the former Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for International Cooperation and the former Parliamentary Secretary to the Solicitor General of Canada. From 2004 to October 2005, she was Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister with special emphasis on Canada-U.S. relations. Notre-Dame-de-Grâce—Westmount is a federal electoral district in Quebec. It encompasses areas formerly included in the electoral districts of Notre-Dame-de-Grâce—Lachine (40%), Westmount—Ville-Marie (59%) and Outremont (1%). Notre-Dame-de-Grâce—Westmount was created by the 2012 federal electoral boundaries redistribution and was legally defined in the 2013 representation order. It encompasses a portion of Quebec formerly included in the electoral districts of LaSalle—Émard and Notre-Dame-de-Grâce—Lachine. LaSalle—Émard was a federal electoral district in the Canadian province of Quebec that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1988 to 2015. Its population in 2001 was 99,767. The MP from 1988 to 2008 was Paul Martin, who served as prime minister of Canada from 2003 to 2006. Ville Saint-Pierre
Ville Saint-Pierre is a small neighbourhood of the city of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, located in the Borough of Lachine. It was a separate town until it merged with Lachine in 1999. In 2002, the amalgamated city of Lachine merged into Montreal. The borders of the neighbourhood are the Lachine Canal/ Borough of LaSalle to the south and east, the Town of Montreal West to the north and the rest of Lachine to the west. The Library of Parliament (french: Bibliothèque du Parlement) is the main information repository and research resource for the Parliament of Canada. The main branch of the library sits at the rear of the Centre Block on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, Ontario. The library survived the 1916 fire that destroyed Centre Block.
