Norman McCabe
Norman McCabe (February 10, 1911 – January 17, 2006) was an English-born American animator who enjoyed a long career that lasted into the 1990s. Early career McCabe was born in England and raised in the United States. He soon developed a career in Tacoma, Washington as a theater lobby artist. During the Great Depression, he moved to Los Angeles to look for more work at lobbies, but to no avail. In the 1930s, he joined Leon Schlesinger Productions (which produced cartoons for Warner Bros.) as a animator in Frank Tashlin's unit. He moved over to Bob Clampett's unit in 1938 where he animated and/or co-directed several classic black and white Looney Tunes. When Tex Avery left Schlesinger in 1941, Clampett took over Avery's unit and McCabe took over Clampett's old unit. Rudolf Ising
Rudolf Carl Ising (August 7, 1903 – July 18, 1992) was an American animator best known for collaborating with Hugh Harman to establish the Warner Bros. and MGM Cartoon studios during the early years of the golden age of American animation. In 1940, Ising produced William Hanna and Joseph Barbera's first cartoon, '' Puss Gets the Boot'', a cartoon featuring characters later known as Tom and Jerry. Personal life Ising was born in Kansas City, Missouri on August 7, 1903. He was married twice, first to Maxine Jennings between 1936 until their divorce in 1940, and later to Cynthia Westlake from 1941 until his death , with whom he had a son, Rudolf Ising, Jr. Ising died of cancer in Newport Beach on 18 July 1992 and is buried at Pacific View Memorial Park in California. ''Confusions of a Nutzy Spy'' is a 1943 Warner Bros. '' Looney Tunes'' cartoon directed by Norman McCabe. The short was released on January 23, 1943, and stars Porky Pig. The cartoon is a World War II propaganda film that deals with Porky and his bloodhound that has sneezing problems trying to track down a Nazi spy caricature in the form of a lynx. Their goal is to stop him from blowing up a critical railroad bridge. The title is a pun of the film title ''Confessions of a Nazi Spy''. The lynx is called the "Missing Lynx", a pun on the description missing link. The bomb is called "Hallelujah, I'm a Bomb", a reference to the song " Hallelujah, I'm a Bum". ''The Ducktators'' is a 1942 Warner Bros. '' Looney Tunes'' directed by Norman McCabe. The short was released on August 1, 1942, and satirizes events of World War II. The title is a pun on ''dictator''. Plot A pair of farm ducks anticipate the hatching of their duckling from an unusually black-colored egg. A white duckling with a toothbrush mustache, Adolf Hitler, emerges from the egg and immediately shouts "Sieg Heil!" while giving the Nazi salute. Hitler's adulthood is spent giving aggressive speeches toward the other ducks and geese. ''The Houndcats'' is an American Saturday morning cartoon series produced by DePatie–Freleng Enterprises. The series was broadcast by NBC from September 9 to December 2, 1972, with reruns continuing until September 1, 1973. Thirteen episodes were produced. Filmation Associates was an American production company that produced animation and live-action programming for television from 1963 until 1989. Located in Reseda, California, the animation studio was founded in 1962. Filmation's founders and principal producers were Lou Scheimer, Hal Sutherland, and Norm Prescott. Background Lou Scheimer and Filmation's main director Hal Sutherland met in 1957 while working at Larry Harmon Pictures on the made-for-TV '' Bozo'' and '' Popeye'' cartoons. Eventually Larry Harmon closed the studio by 1961. Scheimer and Sutherland went to work at a small company called True Line, one of whose owners was Marcus Lipsky, who then owned Reddi-wip whipped cream.
