Nordal Church
Nordal Church ( no, Nordal kyrkje) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Kinn Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the small village of Norddalsfjord, and it serves the northeastern part of the municipality. It is the church for the Nordal parish which is part of the Sunnfjord prosti ( deanery) in the Diocese of Bjørgvin. The white, wooden church was built in a long church design in 1898 using plans drawn up by the architect Jacob Wilhelm Nordan. The church seats about 200 people. History The people of Norddalsfjorden had belonged to the parish of Bru for a long time, which meant they had an extremely long and strenuous way to get to church which was located on the island of Svanøya. From the upper parts of the Grøndalen valley down to the fjord it was a distance of which included crossing five lakes by boat. Norddal Church
Norddal Church ( no, Norddal kyrkje), also known as Dale Church ( no, Dale kyrkje), is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Norddal Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is located in the village of Norddal, on the south side of the Norddalsfjorden. It is one of the two churches for the Norddal parish which is part of the Nordre Sunnmøre prosti ( deanery) in the Diocese of Møre. The white, wooden church was built in an octagonal style in 1784 using plans drawn up by a local farmer, Ole Larssen Døving. The church seats about 300 people. History The earliest existing historical records of the church in Norddal date back to 1432, but the church was already existing on that date. Stavang Church ( no, Stavang kyrkje) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Kinn Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Stavang. It is the main church for the Bru parish which is part of the Sunnfjord prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Bjørgvin. The whitewashed brick church was built in a long church design in 1957 using plans drawn up by the architect Ole Halvorsen from Bergen. The church seats about 312 people. Kinn
Kinn is a municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It was established on 1 January 2020. It is in the traditional districts of Nordfjord and Sunnfjord. The municipality is the only non-contiguous municipality in Norway since the municipality of Bremanger lies in between the north and south parts of Kinn. The administrative centres of the municipality is the two cities of Florø and Måløy. Some villages in the municipality include Rognaldsvåg, Stavang, Grov, Norddalsfjord, Nyttingnes, Steinhovden, Brandsøy, Deknepollen, Holvika, Kvalheim, Langeneset, Raudeberg, Refvika, Silda, Tennebø, Vedvika, and Vågsvåg. The list of churches in Bjørgvin is a list of the Church of Norway churches in the Diocese of Bjørgvin which includes all of Vestland county in Norway. The list is divided into several sections, one for each deanery (; headed by a provost) in the diocese. Administratively within each deanery, the churches are divided by municipalities each of which has their own church council () and then into parishes () which have their own councils (). Each parish may have one or more local church. Historically, the diocese has had many deaneries, but the number of deaneries has been reduced in recent years. Kinn (former Municipality)
Kinn is a former municipality in the Sunnfjord district of Sogn og Fjordane county, Norway. The parish of Kinn has existed for centuries and in 1838, the large parish was established as a municipality that existed from then until 1964. The municipality was centered around the island of Kinn where the main Kinn Church is located. The municipality encompassed most of the southern part of the present-day municipality of Kinn (same name, different borders) as well as parts of Askvoll (in the south) and the southwestern part of Bremanger (in the north). Upon its dissolution in 1964, it covered .
