No Coincidence (film)
''No Coincidence'' (Hungarian: ''Nincsenek véletlenek'') is a 1939 Hungarian comedy film directed by László Kalmár and starring Ida Turay, László Szilassy and József Juhász.Rîpeanu p.131 It was shot at the Hunnia Studios in Budapest. The film's sets were designed by the art director Márton Vincze. Synopsis A newly married couple of their honeymoon stop in a hotel for the night. They discover amongst their wedding presents is a message thanking the wife for "past happiness", angering the husband who wrongly believes that his wife has an unknown past. László Kalmár (director)
László Kalmár (1900–1980) was a Hungarian screenwriter and film director. Cunningham p.37 He began his career in the Horthy era, learning his craft as an assistant director before directing his first film in 1939. His melodrama ''Flames (1941 film), Flames'' was screened at the 9th Venice International Film Festival (void), 1941 Venice Film Festival. He was able to continue his career at the end of the Second World War, unlike many other Hungarian filmmakers, and transitioned to working under the new Hungarian People's Republic, Communist regime. Blanka Szombathelyi (1918–1999) was a Hungarian stage and film actress.Szy p.304 She was born in Transylvania in Austria-Hungary in territory that was subsequently part of Romania. Hilda Emília Gizella Gobbi (6 June 1913 – 13 July 1988) was an award-winning Hungarian actress, known for her portrayals of elderly women. János Balassa (1815–1868) was a surgeon, university professor, and one of the leading personalities of the Hungarian medical society at the time. János Balassa was a pioneer of cardiac resuscitation (CPR) and carried out the first reported case of external heart massage.
