Nikos Oikonomou
Nikolaos "Nikos" Oikonomou (alternate spellings: Ikonomou, Ekonomou) (Greek: Νικόλαος "Νίκος" Οικονόμου; born February 19, 1973) is a retired Greek professional basketball player, and a current professional basketball coach. As a basketball player, he was a 2.08 m (6 ft 10 in) tall power forward and four-time FIBA EuroStar selection. Oikonomou also runs Basket4All, a basketball camp for young children. Club playing career Oikonomou started his playing career with the Greek club Ionikos Nikaias. From 1991 to 1998, he was a member of the Greek club Panathinaikos. He was one of the leaders of the team for many years. In 1993, he won the Greek Cup with Panathinaikos. He also played in the EuroLeague Final Four, at Tel Aviv, in 1994, and at Saragoza in 1995, coming in 3rd place both times. Panathinaikos B.C. ( el, ΚΑΕ Παναθηναϊκός), also known simply as Panathinaikos, is the professional basketball team of the major Athens-based multi- sport club Panathinaikos A.O. Basketball is a team sport in which two teams, most commonly of five players each, opposing one another on a rectangular court, compete with the primary objective of shooting a basketball (approximately in diameter) through the defender's hoop (a basket in diameter mounted high to a backboard at each end of the court, while preventing the opposing team from shooting through their own hoop. The FIBA U16 European Championship, previously known as the FIBA Europe Championship for Cadets, is a youth basketball competition that was inaugurated with the 1971 edition. Through the 2003 edition, it was held every second year, but since the 2004 edition onward, it is held every year. The HEBA Greek All-Star Game, also known as the EKO Greek All-Star Game for sponsorship reasons, is the All-Star Game of the HEBA ( Greek: ΕΣΑΚΕ) Greek professional basketball association for men.
