Nigerian Open
The Nigerian Open was a golf tournament in Nigeria, played between 1969 and 1999. It was generally played at the Ikoyi Club in Ikoyi, Lagos. From 1997 to 1999 it was played at the IBB International Golf & Country Club in Abuja. It was an fixture on the Safari Circuit until 1993, and also a Challenge Tour event between 1990 and 1993. In 1981, England's Peter Tupling set the record low 72 hole score in professional tournament golf, when he won the title with a 29 under par total of 255. Notable past champions include major winners Vijay Singh and Sandy Lyle and former Ryder Cup player Gordon J. Brand. Ikoyi
Ikoyi is the most affluent neighborhood of Lagos, located in Eti-Osa Local Government Area. It lies to the northeast of Obalende and adjoins Lagos Island to the west, and at the edge of the Lagos Lagoon. Popular with the extreme upper class residents of Nigerian society, Ikoyi is arguably one of the wealthiest communities within Nigeria. The area that makes up Ikoyi was originally a continuous land mass with Lagos Island, until it was separated from it by the MacGregor canal, a narrow waterway that was dug by the British colonial government. Ricardo González (golfer)
Ricardo González (born 24 October 1969) is an Argentine professional golfer. Career González turned professional in 1986, and has spent much of his career in Europe. He won a place on the European Tour in 1992 through qualifying school after playing on the second tier Challenge Tour in 1991. Having failed to win sufficient money to retain his tour card, he returned to the Challenge Tour in 1993. Having moved to Africa, González returned to Europe in 1998 after winning the Challenge Tour sanctioned Tusker Kenya Open, and secured a second shot on the European Tour by finishing 5th on the Challenge Tour Rankings that season. He has successfully retained his playing privileges since then by consistently finishing inside the top 115 of the Order of Merit each year. Ian Spencer (born 26 August 1984) is a former English cricketer. He was a right-handed batsman and wicket-keeper who played for Cheshire. He was born in Whiston. The 1991 Challenge Tour was the third season of the Challenge Tour, the official development tour to the European Tour. The tour started as the Satellite Tour with its first Order of Merit rankings in 1989 and was officially renamed as the Challenge Tour at the start of the 1990 season. Paul Eales
Paul Martyn Eales (born 2 August 1963) is an English professional golfer. Career Eales was born in Epping, Essex. He turned professional in 1985 and became a member of Europe's second tier Challenge Tour in 1990. The following season he won the Audi Open, and in 1992 finished third on the Challenge Tour Rankings to graduate to the main European Tour for the 1993 season. After a solid rookie season in 1993, Eales won the 1994 Extremadura Open on his way to a career best 35th place on the European Tour Order of Merit. He performed consistently, but without winning again, mostly finishing within the top 100 on the Order of Merit until 2004, when he lost his tour card. James Lebbie is a professional golfer born in Sierra Leone. Lebbie is a touring and teaching professional and a member of the Sierra Leone PGA. He is Sierra Leone's most successful professional golfer. He played in many tournaments on Europe's second tier Challenge Tour, mainly those held in Africa, recording a solitary victory in the 1992 Nigerian Open. He has also won the Sierra Leone Open many times. Frédéric Regard (golfer)
Frédéric Regard is a professor of English Literature at Paris-Sorbonne University, where he teaches 19th-, 20th- and 21st-century literature and literary theory. He is a specialist in gender studies in France. Biography Regard was born in 1959 in Algeria in a family that had settled in Kabylie in the 19th century. He was schooled in Metropolitan France from the age of ten and entered the École normale supérieure de lettres et sciences humaines in 1978, where he majored in English literature. He passed the Agrégation in 1981 and then pursued a Doctorate#France, state doctorate under Hélène Cixous's supervision. His doctorate focused on the work of novelist William Golding, who won the Nobel Prize in Literature a year later. Gordon David Manson (born 19 May 1960) is a Scottish-born Austrian professional golfer. Manson has had a successful career on the European Senior Tour which he joined in 2011. Manson led the final stage of the 2010 Qualifying school after three of the four rounds but had a last round of 75 to finish tied for seventh place, receiving a conditional card for the 2011 season.
