Nick Hemming
Nicholas Hemming (born 7 April 1973) is an English musician and guitarist. He was formerly of the early 1990s indie band She Talks to Angels, is a key musician in the Willkommen Collective, and is currently the lead singer for The Leisure Society. Hemming also plays banjo and mandolin with Sons of Noel and Adrian and with Shoreline. Hemming wrote and performed music for the films '' A Room for Romeo Brass'' (1999), ''Dead Man's Shoes'' (2004), and "Tyrannosaur" (2011). He penned The Leisure Society's debut single "The Last of the Melting Snow", receiving critical and public acclaim and extensive radio play on Zane Lowe's BBC Radio 1 show, Marc Riley's BBC Radio 6 Music show, Lauren Laverne's 6 Music show and Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie's BBC Radio 2 show, where they were voted 'Record of the Week' by listeners, with a record 90% of the vote. The Big Chill (music Festival)
The Big Chill was an annual festival of alternative, dance and chill-out music and comedy, held in the grounds of Eastnor Castle during early August. The 2011 line-up included The Chemical Brothers, Kanye West, Rodrigo Y Gabriela, Jessie J, Robert Plant, Calvin Harris, Neneh Cherry, Aloe Blacc, Chipmunk, Katy B & Example. The festival has not been staged since 2011. History Founded in 1994 by Pete Lawrence and Katrina Larkin, The Big Chill began as a series of ambient parties at the Union Chapel in Islington, but developed into an outdoor festival in 1995, with an unlicensed event in the Black Mountains of Wales. In the early days the most prominent DJs were Matt Black of Coldcut, Tom Middleton of Global Communication and Mixmaster Morris, also known as the Irresistible Force. Marc Riley
Marc Riley (born 10 July 1961 in Manchester) is an English radio DJ, alternative rock critic, musician, and former music businessman. He currently presents on BBC Radio 6 Music. Christian Hardy (born 7 June 1979) is a British singer, multi-instrumentalist and producer. He performs in The Leisure Society and Pop Crisis and is a member of Brighton's Willkommen Collective. The Leisure Society Christian produced The Leisure Society's debut album ''The Sleeper'' (released 30 March 2009) with Nick Hemming, a friend from Burton Upon Trent. The album entered the iTunes folk chart at number one and received lavish critical praise, going on to be named iTunes Singer/Songwriter album of 2009 and a Rough Trade Album of the Year. The Ivor Novello Awards, named after the entertainer Ivor Novello, are awards for songwriting and composing. Guy Garvey
Guy Edward John Garvey (born 6 March 1974) is an English musician, singer, songwriter and BBC Radio 6 Music presenter. He is the lead singer and lyricist of the rock band Elbow. Early life Garvey grew up in Bury, Lancashire. His father was a grammar school boy who could not afford to go to university; he spent most of his working life as a newspaper proofreader and a chemist at ICI. Elbow are an English rock band formed in Bury, Greater Manchester, in 1997. The band consists of Guy Garvey (lead vocals, guitar), Craig Potter (keyboard, piano, backing vocals), Mark Potter (guitar, backing vocals) and Pete Turner (bass guitar, backing vocals).
