Newsnight Scotland
''Newsnight Scotland'' is a current affairs television programme, broadcast by BBC Scotland from BBC Pacific Quay in Glasgow as an opt out of the main London-based ''Newsnight'' programme. It was broadcast at 11pm from Mondays to Thursdays, replacing the last twenty minutes of ''Newsnight'' on BBC Two Scotland. The programme was presented by Glenn Campbell on Mondays, and Gordon Brewer fronted the programme on Tuesday, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Isobel Fraser, Sally Magnusson and Radio Scotland's ''Good Morning Scotland'' co-presenter Gary Robertson also appeared on the show as stand-in presenters. In 1999, the programme had a Friday edition with a brief news summary before being dropped. The programme's original presenters were Anne Mackenzie and Gordon Brewer between 1999 and 2007. ''Scotland 2016'' is a news and current affairs programme from BBC Scotland News, presented by Sarah Smith and Jonathan Sutherland. Starting 28 May 2014, it was called ''Scotland 2014'' before being renamed to reflect the year. It replaced '' Newsnight Scotland'' as BBC Scotland's flagship political programme. The half-hour programme aired from 10.30pm Monday to Thursday, opposite STV's ''Scotland Tonight'', with ''Newsnight'' being broadcast in Scotland at 11pm. History ''Scotland 2014'' was announced in February 2014, part of a major shake-up in BBC Scotland News and current affairs programme in the run up to the 2014 Scottish independence referendum. It was initially scheduled to run until October of that year. DVB-T, short for Digital Video Broadcasting – Terrestrial, is the DVB European-based consortium standard for the broadcast transmission of digital terrestrial television that was first published in 1997 and first broadcast in Singapore in February, 1998. BBC Pacific Quay is BBC Scotland's television and radio studio complex at Pacific Quay, Glasgow, Scotland. Opened by then Prime Minister Gordon Brown on 20 September 2007, the studios are home to BBC Scotland's television, radio and online services and the headquarters of the BBC in Scotland. Location The studios are located adjacent to the Glasgow Science Centre, across the river from the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre and adjacent to the studios of commercial broadcaster STV. David Henderson (broadcaster)
David Henderson (born 1970) is a news correspondent and presenter with BBC Scotland news. He is BBC Scotland's business and transport correspondent for BBC '' Reporting Scotland'', ''Good Morning Scotland'', ''Newsnight Scotland'', ''The Politics Show Scotland'', '' Holyrood Live'', ''Newsdrive'' and ''Scotland at 10''. He has acted as BBC Scotland’s health correspondent as well as a former relief news anchor and is part of BBC Radio Scotland’s commentary team for Scottish international cricket. Since November 2023, Henderson is acting as one of BBC Scotland's Political correspondents.
