Newcastle Breakers FC
Newcastle Breakers FC are a defunct Australian football (soccer) club. Formed out of elements of the Newcastle Austral club, they participated in the National Soccer League from season 1991/1992, until their dissolution in 1999/2000. The club fared poorly on the field in its nine seasons in the national league, failing to reach the finals at every attempt. The club's demise led to the creation of Newcastle United FC (later known as Newcastle Jets). Troy Halpin
Troy Michael Halpin (born 17 August 1973) is an Australian footballer and Sports/Football Development coach at Barker College and St Pius X Chatswood. Career He is one of the great talents Australian football has produced in the last two decades and was one of the most skillful players plying their trade in the now-defunct National Soccer League. Halpin represented many NSL clubs and won the NSL championship with Sydney Olympic and Perth Glory. He also played with Newcastle United and at Perth Glory with his brother Scott Halpin. He has also played with Sydney United and Marconi in the NSW competition and wore the No 10 shirt. The National Soccer League (NSL) was the top-level soccer league in Australia, run by Soccer Australia and later the Australian Soccer Association. The NSL, the A-League's predecessor, spanned 28 seasons from its inception in 1977 until its demise in 2004, when it was succeeded by the A-League competition run by Football Federation Australia, the successor to the Australian Soccer Association. Lee Sterrey
Lee Sterrey (born 1 May 1961) is an Australian soccer coach and former player who last coached Macarthur Rams in his home country in 2016. He has managed in the Australian National Soccer League (NSL) and Fiji. Playing career Sterrey played 87 times in the National Soccer League (NSL), turning out for Sydney Croatia in their first NSL season in 1984. In 1985, Sterrey moved to Marconi on a transfer. He played two seasons for the ''Stallions'', making 44 appearances. Sterrey returned to the NSL in 1989 playing for Blacktown City. John Kosmina
Alexander John Kosmina (born 17 August 1956), known as John Kosmina, is an Australian former football (soccer) player and manager, most recently being the Senior Head Coach of Brisbane Strikers. He is a member of the Football Federation Australia Football Hall of Fame. Club career Kosmina is of Polish Australian ethnicity. He played for Polonia and then West Adelaide, before signing for English side Arsenal in February 1978. However, he only played one first-team league game for the Gunners (as a substitute against Leeds United on 19 August 1978), along with 3 appearances (2 as a substitute) in that season's UEFA cup. He was the first Australian to play for Arsenal. He returned to Australia in May 1979.
